Dark Refrains

Georgina Hannah Ormrod

Melancholy Sea

As I carelessly skip along the sand
The sea-breeze blows away my sorrows,
My sobriety vanishes to another land
Waiting for more troubled tomorrows.

My hair is blowing round my head
As if trying to escape to be free,
And all I can see is a melancholy sea,
Silently singing its rhapsody to me.

The lonely track of wandering footprints
Aspires to my hidden dreams
Like a serene sunset of many tints
Being eternally sewn up at the seams.

That distant deep blue with celestial stars
Sets my joyful, giddy mind free,
And all I need to see is that melancholy sea,
And hear it sing its rhapsody to me.
