Tip of the week 3.
 

Although in English we say "wrong with", in Gaelic we say "wrong on" i.e. "ceàrr air" e.g.
 
Dè tha ceàrr ort?
What is wrong with you?
 
Chan eil fhiosam dè bha ceàrr orra.
I don't know what was wrong with them.
 
Bha rudeigin ceàrr air an èinnsean.
There was something wrong with the engine.
 
This is reflected in other idioms:
 
Tha cnatan orm.
I have a cold.
 
Dè tha a' cur ort?
What's troubling you? (What is putting on you?)
 
Cailean
Am Marcair Dubh
Is i a' Ghàidhlig Cànain mo Dhùthcha.
