Tip of the Week 7


There are three things to remember when using the adjective "droch".
 
1. It ALWAYS precedes the noun.
2. It cannot be used WITHOUT a noun.
3. It lenites all consonants which CAN be lenited.
 
Calder's Grammar gives some exceptions, but I think these can safely be ignored.
 
So:
 
'S e droch bhalach a th'annadsa! - You're a bad boy!
 
but:
 
Chan eil sin dona. - That's not bad.
