Wood Refinishing and Antique Restoration:

An important aspect to our business, is the wood refinishing. When a chair in for re-upholstery has a combination of wood that needs re finishing, that wood is stripped, sanded down, stained to the original colour, and lacquered. The same applies to any pieces we do, ranging from tiny parlour tables to dining room tables, and unless the customer requests a different stain, the table is brought back to the original form. There is nothing more forgiving than wood. Even after a few coats of paint, once it is stripped and sanded, the results are so gratifying. Unlike the stains in the old days, where the grain was hidden with dark stain, unless of coarse it was French polish, if done right, you can still have a dark stain, and yet the grain in the wood shows magnificently. Wood always produces a pleasing and lasting result.

Antiques, are hand stripped, and sanded to take on the new varnish. We also sand in between coats, to bring out the grain.
