We got Gale as a puppy from Pam Blodgett, of Crystal Bay Newfoundlands and Claire Carr, Seaworthy Kennel. She was born Dec. 18, 1986 in San Diego. She was our second newf and nothing like our first. A more hyper newf probably hasn't been whelped. It was hard to keep up with her! She took to hiking under the tutelage of Windy, her predesessor, very easily. Canoeing was a breeze, too. She enjoyed hiking all over the Sierra for 9 good years. But she still enjoyed slow day hikes for a few more years.

 We still have our Beau, a huge brown male, who came to us from his breeder, in Mammoth Lakes, CA, who had taken him back from his first owner. He had been the "Poor Little Rich Dog", great big home to live in, just nobody home to love him. He didn't even know his name or any commands like sit or down. But being a typical gentle giant and sweetheart, he never took advantage of his lack of education. Quite the mind reader,thankfully! He soon settled in with Windy, Gale, the 6 cats and us. He loves going out for an adventure especially if it involves water or cold weather.He was born on Dec. 27, 1989 but acts like he is still 2 years old.
