Stay On These Roads |
Downtrodden, filled with despair. Walking blindly through darkened lair. Fierce wind upon your tear-stained cheek. Lips shut so tightly you cannot speak. Left behind to fend for yourself. Keeping to the shadows, walking in stealth. Weeping in silence lest you be revealed. Honestly believing your heart cannot be healed. For it bleeds with every passing beat Knowing it was cut with a knife of deceit. And the wound, it aches unceasingly Asking for death, saying, “Release me!” But you must stay on these roads. You have not been forsaken. Stay on these roads, And your heart will reawaken. Another step you feel you cannot take, So fearful to make one more mistake. Love and trust you’re unwilling to invest, And yet your spirit remains at unrest. It seeks the comfort of another To embrace as a friend, a lover. You must remove your hardened mask And set your mind to complete the task. Let fall off all that encumbers you. And into the darkness see through To walk out of the masquerade And into the night that shall fade. You must stay on these roads. You have not been forsaken. Stay on these roads, And your heart will reawaken. |
