Talksport Radio 1053/1089am

Talksport is a radio station broadcasting from London England. It is indeed my favourite station and I have the habit of listening to it all of the time. Like the eternal friend, it has become very important to me, and has transmogrified into an ethereal form of extended family...

TalkenShporten has it's main focus on football and current affairs. The audience is quite balanced politically, even though the station has the reputation of being mostly politically incorrect and moderate compared to the usual broadcasters.

Recently, 2006, the station was taken over by UTV, and since then it has started to be more and more like the BBC, getting softer and more liberal. Maybe the government is exerting pressure on Talksport to change. Certainly in the UK it is OK for broadcasters to be radically left wing, but other leanings are censored or lambasted. No wonder everyone complies in the end. It is a shame, for this station once stood out on its own as being the only incorrect broadcaster, and was interesting for everyone, no matter what their viewpoint was.

The station has a fanbase of many naughty lefty students, who hate the fact that Talksport is not as politically correct as their usual media output, like the Guardian or the BBC. They seem to be getting their wish, however, as the station becomes softer and too scared to voice its opinion.

If I had my way, I would allow total free speech for all, especially on the radio. At the moment, only the far left get free speech, and it it rather unfair. I would like to hear the other views too. Sadly, the only moderate station, TalkSport, is getting softer by the second !
