METALLICA

     Metallica is my favorite band. The band members are Kirk Hammet on lead guitar, Lars Ulrich on drums, James Hetfield on back-up guitar and vocals, and Robert Trujillo on bass guitar. They have produced 11 albums. From earliest to latest, Kill 'em all, Ride The Lighning, Master Of Puppets, Garage Days Revisited, And Justice For ALl, Metallica ( know as the "Black Album" ), Load, Reload, Garage inc., S&M ( San Francisco Symphony Orchestra & Meatllica ), and  St. Anger.

     Personally I think that their first albums are the best because back then they had Cliff Burton on bass guitar. He died somewhere in Switzerland's mountains when their tour bus rolled, he fell out, and it rolled on him. He was really good at what he did. He was incredibly musically talented. He majored in music in university, and played piano for 15 years. He was the mastermind behind songs such as Orion, and The Call Of Ktulu. He wrote many of the guitar parts in those songs for both Kurt and James. He was pretty much the only guy to play high notes on the bass, and nobody of that era played bass with distortion. His most famous song was Anesthesia ( pulling teeth ).

     On May 7th 2004 I had the privilege of seeing them live for the first time in Saskatoon. They play there every 7 or so years. The best part of the concert was the whole thing. The crowd went insane from the time they walked out to the time they went backstage. Everybody was on their feet for the entire concert. People were crowd surfing in the seated seats it was so insane. They had wicked pyrotechnics, and when they played Master of Puppets the whole stadium went insane. Their famous song One is based on a war, and all the bombs, and land mine noises in the intro of the song were made using large blasts of propane, and gun-powder.  The best part of the concert for me was the end when Kirk threw his guitar pick into the crowd and it landed in the row behind me, and i grabbed it off the floor.
