OBJECTIVES RESEARCH We are care in safety of the environment and by using Geophysical techniques to detect water pollution, noise of sound and vibration, etc. PEOPLE This Group led by Drs. Achmad Mahfi, MA and Drs. Suparwoto.
RESEARCH ABSTRACT NOISE LEVEL MEASURING AND ANALYZING AT SEVERAL LOCATIONS IN UNIVERSITY OF GADJAH
MADA AREA YOGYAKARTA By
: Widia Etna Ratnaningsih
Subagyo (1996) and Sholawati (1998) have done two previous noise
level measurements. Unlike those two previous ones, this measurement was
based on the complaints about noise that is exist in lecture rooms at
University of Gadjah Mada. The choosing of location and measuring time was
matched with the lecturing time in campus.
The measurement result shows that there are several places at any
periods of time are over than the standard of maximum noise level
required. The existence of sound barriers at Wisma Kagama and Panti Rapih
Hospital has been proved that they can reduce high intensity of noise
level. Hopefully the result of this research could increase the quality of
education process. ABSTRACT A GEOELECTRICAL INVESTIGATION OF THE POSSIBILITY OF THE PRESENCE OF SALTY WATER AND ITS SPREADING IN CILACAP CITY, CENTRAL JAVA, INDONESIA By: Atanasia Tinanggulang A geoelctrical investigation of the possibility of the presence of salty water intrusion in Cilacap city, central java, Indonesia, has been conducted in 1998 on Oct 27th - Nov 6th. The parameters that closely observed for this investigations are the resistivity and PFE (percent frequency effect) of the sub surface layers. Resistivity values are function of depth and lateral distance for precise depth, PFE values are function of depth. Resistivitymeter MOdel Es-G1 was used for this investigation. Measurements have done on 12 sounding line and 4 induced polarization line, the covered areas are North Cilacap, Middle Cilacap, and South Cilacap. The presence of salt water intrusion showed at unconsolidated sands in depth 15 meter. The areas of the spreading are : in North factory on Jl. Salam and Jl. Randu, in South factory
ABSTRACT MEASUREMENT AND ANALYZE GROUND SURFACE VIBRATION ON SEVERAL WORKSHOP STATIONS AND MAIN ROADS IN CAMPUS OF GADJAH
MADA UNIVERSITY YOGYAKARTA By: Dwi Budi Fitrianto
Ground surface vibration is a typical uninvestigated pollutant yet in Indonesia. This pollutant is caused by ground vehicle (car, bus, train), industrial machines, and mining activities. Ground surface vibration measurements have been conducted around Gadjah Mada University in November 4th-24th 1998. The measurements was focused on main roads and several workshop stations, done at 7 am - 2 pm (day)_ and 10 pm - 4 am (night). Resulted analyze shows that ground surface vibration around Gadjah Mada University areas laid on A category (undestructed) based on destruction effect, and laid on undisturbable category based on healthness and cheerfullness effect to human body.
