| Back then, in the very first game, there was no Mario....only Jumpman. Yes, DK featured, of course, the title character as the villain, Jumpman (a carpenter) as the hero, and Pauline as the damsel in distress. Pauline's role was only a one time appearance, but the other two spawned series of their own. Yes, it all starts as Pauline is carried up a building by DK, who for reasons we don't know of has captured her. Enter Jumpman, the brave carpenter, to save her. Not only that, but he has to collect Pauline's hat, purse and umbrella whilst dodging barrels thrown by DK. Not an easy job, but then again Mario's jobs never are. After only four short but very, very difficult levels, Jumpman cuts the supports holding up DK and the day is saved. But, it definitely wasn't end... | ||||||||||

| Recently, this old arcade classic has been remembered again and enjoyed by a new generation of fans, since Nintendo stuck into Donkey Kong 64. It's hard! | ||||||||||
| SPIN-OFFS: Donkey Kong, the little arcade game that could, spawned a whole new world of classic games. Here's some of the many spin-offs.... Donkey Kong II:Mario shows his evil side as the villain in this game, by capturing DK. But he didn't count on DK Jr! Donkey Kong III:Starring Donkey and someone called Stanley the Bugman. Details are sketchy. Super Mario Kart:Featuring Mario and all his friends and rivals at the time, including DK Jr. Donkey Kong Country:DK Jr. and Diddy Kong star with a new cast against a new villain, and it's time for the original DK to take a back seat, as Cranky Kong. Donkey Kong Country 2--Diddy's Kong Quest:This sequel starred Diddy and Dixie Kong, on a quest to rescue DK (Jr) from King K.Rool. Donkey Kong Country 3--Dixie Kong's Double Trouble: This game featured Dixie and Kiddy Kong trying to save Diddy and DK from K.Rool. Seeing a pattern? Super Mario Kart 64:Yet again, Mario and friends gather to race.....but this time in in full 3-D splendor. DK appears in this too. Even more series came just from the DK Country Trilogy alone....here's some more spin-offs from DK's end of the deal! Diddy Kong Racing:Diddy and a fresh cast of characters come together to save an island threatened by Wizpig, using their racing skills to win. Banjo-Kazooie:Banjo, a racer from DKR, gets his own game. Banjo-Tooie:The sequel to BK, and I really don't know the plot. Conker's Bad Fur Day:Another DKR character with his own game, only this is NOT some kiddie game. Really foul language and content, etc. Nothing like Pocket Tales. ^^;;; Conker's Pocket Tales:Ummm....the plot involves a diabolically evil acorn, so I'm not even gonna go there.... |
