THE BENNER FAMILY of MINNESOTA

In the middle of the eighteenth century nine brothers of the Benner family
came to America from Rotterdam as follows:

(Were they brothers?  37 years between first sailing date and last sailing

Among the passengers of an American ship, "Three Sisters Of Bremen",
November 30, 1855 came Jacob Benner Miller. Perhaps he was a nephew of the
nine brothers.

The descendants of Daniel Benner, the sixth of the nine brothers who came
to America from Rotterdam to America on October 13, 1766 are as follows:

(1) DANIEL BENNER, born ?.  CATY BENNER, his wife was born March 24, 1765
at midnight, these being the parents of Elias Benner, Sr, who was born June
5, 1795 at seven o'clock in the morning. He had red hair.  Elias Benner,
Sr. is the only known descendant of Daniel Benner. However, there was a
John Benner whose estate was settled at the same time as Elias Benner's
according to the records in the courthouse at Richmond, Missouri.


(2) ELIAS BENNER FAMILY RECORD

ELIAS BENNER, the only known descendant of DANIEL AND CATY BENNER, was born
June 5, 1795 at seven o'clock in the morning.   ELIAS BENNER'S first wife
was MARY CLAPPER, born September 1, 1798.  They were married January 30,
1816 and had seven children as follows:
1.  CATHERINE BENNER, born April 15, 1817--late bedtime. In 1834 she
    married Daniel McBee.  They had fourteen children.
2.  GEORGE BENNER, born August 21, 1819 at bedtime.  Married Nancy E.
    Bradley on November 15, 1849.
3.  JACOB BENNER, born Aug 24, 1821 -- fore part of night. Died February
    23, 1842.
4.  MARY BENNER,JR, born September 8, 1823 -- fore part of night.
5.  ELIAS BENNER,JR, born August 26, 1825 at 10 A.M.  Died October 4, 1839.
6.  HENRY BENNER, born Feb 2, 1828 at 6:30 in the evening.
7.  Young child, born June 15, 1830 and died, buried in its mother's arms.
    Mary Clapper died when this child was born.

On December 8, 1830 Elias Benner was married for a second time to CHRISTIAN
CRAMER, born Feb 4, 1812.  They had four children as follows:
1.  SARAH BENNER, born Jan 18, 1832 at cock crow.
2.  ELIZABETH BENNER, born Dec 17, 1833 at 9 p.m.
3.  FRANKLIN BENNER, born May 27, 1836 at 10 a.m.
4.  HIRAM BENNER, born April 18, 1839. Died Sept 1, 1840.

ELIAS BENNER died Oct 30, 1838 at 4 p.m.--age 43 years, 4 months, 24 days.
He was killed during the Mormon wars.

(3)HENRY BENNER FAMILY RECORD

HENRY BENNER, the sixth child of ELIAS AND MARY CLAPPER BENNER was born
February 2, 1828 -- a Pennsylvania Dutchman.
He was married to CHARLOTTE ANNE GOLDEN-ROBISON on December 10, 1850.
Charlotte was born in Mayville, Kentucky.  "She was bred in old Kentucky,
and famous for her fried chicken." They moved from Sonora, Illinois to
Dexter, Minnesota in 1888, where they spent their last days.  Henry Benner
passed away May 29, 1905 and Charlotte died October 1,1906. Six children
were born to this union.

2.  CLARISSA VIRGINIA BENNER born Apr ?, 1853.  Died Aug ? 1864 in Illinois.
3.  GEORGE WALTER BENNER, born near Nauvoo Il, April 4, 1855
Died at Sacramento, CA in 1933.  Married Eva Welch-Wood July 7, 1892.  No
children.
4.  BION STANLEY BENNER, born near Nauvoo, Il, April 17, 1856. Died Feb ?,
1916.
5.  IDA M. BENNER born July 19, 1860 near Nauvoo, Il.  Died Feb 14, 1900.


(4) MARY TABITHA BENNER FAMILY RECORD

MARY TABITHA BENNER, the first child of Henry AND Charlotte Benner, was
born Nov 3, 1851 near Nauvoo, Illinois. She was married Sept 9, 1874 in
Illinois to Abram Vermilya who was born in Owego, N.Y. December 2, 1846.
They moved to Minnesota in 1878.  Abram Vermilya died at Dover, Mn July 1,
1935.  Five children blessed this union.

  Married Dwight W Medbury at Dexter, MN Sept 12, 1900.
2.IDA KATHLEEN VERMILYA, born Dec 13, 1876 at Sonora, IL.
Married Dr. G.J. Schottler at Dexter Sept 12, 1900.
3. GEORGE BENNER VERMILYA, born June 17,1880 at Dexter, MN.
Married Maude Vandenover at Minot, ND January 8, 1905.
4. JESSE BION VERMILYA, born Mar 24, 1884 at Dexter, MN. Married Alice
Wakefield June 29, 1904.
5. Infant son born Nov 30,1991 and died Dec 4, 1991.

(5) BION STANLEY BENNER FAMILY RECORD

 BION STANLEY BENNER, the fourth child of Henry and Charlotte Benner, was
born near Nauvoo, Il, April 17, 1856. Died February ?. 1916.  Married
Minnie L.Welch of Austin,Mn March 16, 1884.  Four children were born to
this union at Dexter, Mn.
(a)  ORA LEE BENNER, dying in infancy.
(b)  ERNEST LYNNE BENNER. Born Dec 24, 1888. Married Jessie M. Johnson Sept
24, 1914 at Judson, MN. Died Nov 5, 1937.
(c) GLADYS VERNE BENNER.  Married Victor G. Campbell at Mankato, Mn May 17,
1919

(6)IDA MARIAH BENNER FAMILY RECORD

   IDA MARIAH BENNER, the fifth child of Henry and Charlotte Benner, was
born near Nauvoo, IL on July 19, 1860.  She died Feb.14, 1900.  Married
Frank W. Benbow of Canton, MO. on January 19, 1883.  Six children.
(a-b) Twin boys, WALTER and RUFUS, WALTER choking on a piece of meat at
nine months and RUFUS dying at about four years of scarlet fever.
(c) LENA BELLE BENBOW married John Woodford of Darien, WI.
(d) MISS HAZEL BENBOW of Chicago
(e) DR. FRANK BENBOW of Chicago (dentist)
(f) HELEN BENBOW married and living in Canton, MO.

   OLIVE MAUDE VERMILYA, the first child of Mary Tabitha Benner and Abram
Vermilya was born June 11, 1875.  Married Dwight W. Medbury September 12,
1900 at Dexter, Minnesota. Four children were born to this union.

Wisconsin Wednesday, Sept 6 , 1909 at 8 pm.  Six children:
1.  HAZEL JEANETTE, born Wednesday noon, January 18 at Darien, Wisconsin.
2.  HELEN LOUISE, born Monday, 4:40 pm October 28, 1912 at Darien.  Married
Walter A. Larson at Darien, WI  Saturday, January 18 at 4:30 -- her 21st
birthday.
3.  DORIS BARBARA, born Monday, 4 pm January 29, 1915 at Darien
4.  Twins -- JOHN BENBOW WOODFORD and ELMER FRANK WOODFORD born Saturday,
June 8, 1919.  Elmer died of diptheria Tuesday December 12 at 1 pm age 4
years, 6 months, 4 days.
5.  ROBERT DOUGLASS, born Friday, Oct 31, 1924 at 6 pm.
