Konterman
in, Amo out to Sunderland? 1/6/00

Rangers are on
the verge of bringing Dutch defender Bert
Konterman to Ibrox as a replacement for outgoing
skipper Lorenzo Amoruso.
The Gers
are hoping to complete a deal for the Feyenoord
centre-back by the weekend, allowing Amoruso to
move to the Premiership with Sunderland.
Chairman David
Murray confirmed that the transfers were
imminent, saying: "There has been an enquiry
and an initial negotiation with Sunderland about
Amoruso.
"As for
Konterman, we are hopeful of concluding matters
with Feyenoord and then the player before the
weekend."
Amoruso denied
that a fall-out with manager Dick Advocaat was to
blame for his departure. He said: "I've
known about Sunderland's interest for about a
month now, but before anything can happen we will
all have to sit down and see what is on offer.
"There is
no problem between me and Dick Advocaat but if
there is an offer and it's good for Rangers and
good for me, then it will be considered. But if
it isn't good then Rangers aren't in a rush to
sell me and I'm not in a hurry to leave."
Rumours have
been circulating about the Italian stars
future since comments attributed to him appeared
in Rangers News magazine, stating that Advocaat
no longer speaks to him.
