Explosive Shell- a hollow cannonball filled with gunpowderFlank- the side
Infantry- soldiers who fought on foot
Secede-to separate onesself from something, in the Civil War it meant that many states declared that they no longer belonged to the United States
Solid Shot- a solid cannonball
