The third day was perhaps the
bloodiest battle in the whole Civil War. It was the day the
Confederates lost Gettysburg, which probably made them lose the
whole war. It was the day they launched Pickett's
Charge.
George Pickett was very eager to get
his troops into action. Lee had attacked to the right and the
left, but not in the middle. So, he decided to organize a charge
in the middle, and George Pickett got to organize it.
Me Looking out at the field where Pickett's charge was
held.
First the Confederates shot many
cannon balls over to the Union side. The Union shot back.

Then the Confederates marched. The Union was able to kill many
Confederates.
When the Confederates came to the
trees in the picture below, many were captured or killed. Others
ran away back to where they began.
Now you can walk on the field of
Pickett's charge. Pickett's charge was the decisive battle in
Gettysburg. It was the last battle of Gettysburg, the one where
the Union won the battle, and it may have been the battle
which decided who won the Civil War itself.
