September Walks. BACK HOME
September 14th.
Saturday 14th September 2002.

Todays walk took us down to Bethesda in Wales. Leaving the Landrover we followed the Afon Llafar up the valley to the boulder field below Crib Lem. Heading between the headwall and the waterfall we gained ground and then headed off to our left to gain the crest of the Llech Ddu spur, a short section of easy scrambling later we walked up onto Carnedd Dafydd at 1044 Mts. As we walked over the summit we were met with a terrific view of a temperature inversion, see pics below. From here we followed the path around onto Carnedd Llewelyn at 1064 Mts. It was obviously going to be busy judging by the amount of walkers we could see approaching so we had our lunch away from the summit and admired the view back own the valley. From here we headed across to Yr Elen at 962 Mts and descended via the northeast ridge into the valley below, a spot of bog hopping and map reading soon saw us back at the landrover in Bethesda.

The largest of the boulders below the headwall.

Me and Shaun admiring a fantastic view from the summit of Carnedd Dafydd. Tryfan is on the right of the shot.
