August photos cont.
BACK
Todays walk, 24th August. Me, Shaun and Karl. We left Stonethwaite following the beck to a footbridge at Smithymire Island, after crossing the bridge we skirted the edge of the fields to a point just below Eagle Crag where we made our ascent, after a quick brew we made our way across to Sergeants Crag where we made a direct descent to the valley below. After crossing the beck at Tray Dub we followed Langstrath beck for a while then decided to make a direct attempt up the flank of Allen Crags ( hard work ! ). After lunch we made our way across to Glaramara and then took a bearing to take us around to Coombe Door on route to Bessyboot our final objective for the day, however the weather turned against us and the mist closed right in cutting visibility down to about 50 Yards, this is not the place to be in poor visibilty as route finding is very hard. After a few false dawns we finally came to Rosthwaite Cam and our first break of the day as the cloud lifted and we finally got some views, Bessyboot at last !. We made our way down alongside Big Stanger Gill, be careful in wet weather as the path is very slippery, I found myself on my backside a couple of times I can tell you. Hope you like the photos.
