                                       Reinhold ("Reinie") Ludwig Schrafstetter

                                                           1955 -- 2000

Reinie started coming on the No-Wimps ski trips 1997, and made every trip until his untimely death at age 45.  Reinie and his father (also a Reinhold) were both killed in a traffic accident caused by a drunk driver on Sept. 17, 2000.  The two Reinholds were returning from a day of fishing together at their cabin north of Milwaukee.

Reinie had planned to come ski Vail with the group in February, 2001.  We will truly miss him on every trip we take.  Reinie's colorful personality and warmth made traveling and skiing together fun.  Here are some specific things we remember about Reinie:

  • His cooking genuine German Weiner schnitzel for our group

  • His eclectic tastes in beers

  • His home-made cherry wine/brandy

  • His dancing and partying

  • His aggressive and fast skiing

  • The easy way he got along with everyone

  • His sage advice   i.e. "Hey George, lighten the f___ up"

  • His sagacious blackjack playing at the Tahoe casinos

  • The loving care he provided to his ailing father

Thanks, Reinie.  We'll miss you.
