This is one version of an e-mail questionnaire
sent to me by friends/family, designed to get to know someone better. You
often learn surprising things this way, about those you thought you knew
well. And people frequently add to the questions, so it stays interesting.
FULL NAME:
Georgina Garbett
(Well, I've got middle names too, but you'll have to twist my arm.)
NICKNAME(S):
Gigi (after the movie), Giggles (self-explanatory).
BEST FRIEND(S):
Andrea (university), Pam (high school).
ROMANTIC PARTNER:
Mike. (And now he's my husband. What luck!)
WHAT IS YOUR ZODIAC SIGN?
Cancer the crab. My Chinese sign is the Tiger. They keep me balanced. (I sure hope I don't pick a fight with myself.)
IF YOU COULD DYE YOUR HAIR ANY COLOUR, WHAT WOULD
IT BE?
Blue or green. But only for a while; I like my
brown hair.
LIVING ARRANGEMENT:
I'll live until I die, that's my contract. Hopefully
that will be a long time from now. And hopefully I'll enjoy my life while I'm here. :)
HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT STORMS?
I love falling asleep to the sound of a summer
rain or thunderstorm (in the distance). I used to play outside in the puddles
during/after a good heavy rain. Still do, for that matter. :)
HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT OUIJA BOARDS?
Never tried one. I guess that makes me superstitious.
FAVOURITE AUTHOR:
Agatha Christie. I've read all her mystery novels, and have even gone to see
The Mousetrap in England. I also recently discovered Ian Rankin, P.D. James and Minette Walters, whose mysteries I enjoy as well.
FAVOURITE MAGAZINE:
It used to be Coffeebreak (an e-zine). It had a joke of the day, word of the day, nature facts, and other amusing and interesting stuff. But since it went kaputt, my favourite e-zine is
Recipe Du Jour.
FAVOURITE SMELL:
Banana pancakes on the griddle. Also, a log campfire.
FAVOURITE SOUNDTRACK:
Evita. Fiddler on the Roof. Chicago. (I love musicals, doesn't everyone?)
ROLLER COASTERS-SCARY OR EXCITING?
Scary at first, but exciting when you're halfway
down the first steep hill.
FAVOURITE COLOUR(S):
Green. And purple. But mostly green. Especially the green of the sunlight filtered through a canopy of leaves.
FAVOURITE SPORT(S)TO WATCH:
Figure skating, curling, baseball, skate- and snowboarding.
FAVOURITE SPORT(S)TO PLAY:
Hiking or bicycling. Then roller skating (old style, not in-line), volleyball, or soccer.
YOUR FAVOURITE TV SHOWS:
Jeopardy, Friends, Cheers, Survivor, Whose Line is it
Anyway?, West Wing, Tru Calling, Gilmour Girls, Trading Spaces, Clean Sweep, Pop-Up Video, Law & Order, CSI, Lost, Scrubs, American Idol/Canadian Idol, The Amazing Race, Medium, Prison Break, Commander-in-Chief, Criminal Minds...
But I really don't watch a lot of TV (except for Lost)
FAVOURITE ACTOR/ACTRESS:
You know, I've never really had a favourite. I mean, there's a bunch of very talented folk whose movies I enjoy and whose acting I respect, but no one in particular has ever been singled out in my books. Well, except for Ewan McGregor. My husband's always been a fan of Trainspotting, but for me it was when Ewan sang his first note in Moulin Rouge that I first was riveted. Turns out he's a pretty good actor, too. :P
ARE YOU A LEFTY, RIGHTY OR AMBIDEXTROUS?
Righty, but several people in my family are either
lefty or ambi.
PEN OR PENCIL?
I like a pen that writes smoothly. I always have
trouble with breaking the leads in mechanical pencils.
IF YOU COULD HAVE ANY JOB YOU WANTED, WHAT WOULD
IT BE?
If I knew what it was, I'd be doing it, right??
It would have to involve doing something that I love, but not make it into a chore. It would have to keep me engaged, and give me variety as well as routine. It would give me contact with people, but also give me time to work on my own. It would have to be meaningful for me, a way of improving the world that I live in. And it would give me opportunities to grow as a person.
IF YOU COULD MEET ONE PERSON, DEAD OR ALIVE, WHO
WOULD IT BE?
Robin Williams. He knows how to have fun, yet keeps his head on straight.
FAVOURITE ALCOHOLIC DRINK:
Pina colada. Or a lava flow - it's like a pina colada, but with pureed strawberry. I discovered it on our honeymoon in Hawai'i.
WHAT IS THE FIRST THING YOU THINK OF WHEN YOU
WAKE IN THE MORNING?
Food... more sleep... food... more sleep... food...
BEEN IN LOVE?
Yup, still am. :)
WHAT IS ON THE WALLS IN YOUR ROOM?
Nothing at the moment - usually posters, postcards,
and a collection of greeting cards that Mike gave me on our anniversaries
and other occasions. And multicoloured Christmas lights.
IS THE GLASS HALF EMPTY OR HALF FULL?
Duh! It's both!
WORST FEELING IN THE WORLD:
A hangover (only ever had one). Or having to
puke (not related to the first part).
BEST FEELING IN THE WORLD:
That moment when you discover that someone really cares.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE SNAPPLE?
Never had Snapple, but I like lemon iced tea. I prefer my tea hot, though. And grey. Earl Grey.
FAVOURITE MOVIE(S):
Face/Off, While You Were Sleeping, the Matrix,
the Fifth Element, Hudson Hawk, Ever After. I own all of them. :)
DO YOU TYPE WITH YOUR FINGERS ON THE RIGHT KEYS?
Yes, and the left as well. Oh... yes, I touch-type.
IF YOU COULD BE ONE GARDENING TOOL, WHAT WOULD
YOU BE?
The watering hose/sprinkler. All work and no
play is no fun. And not healthy, besides.
WHAT'S UNDER YOUR BED?
A million dollars... no wait, that was a CSI episode. Oh, well. Possibly a few dust-bunnies, but you wouldn't want those.
FAVOURITE NUMBER:
I like 8, 43, 256 and 658. Two of these for mathematical reasons.
FAVOURITE FOODS:
Pasta, dessert.
LIVER?
Love it!
BROC OR NO-BROC?
Broccoli, but only if cooked.
DO YOU GET ALONG WITH YOUR PARENTS?
Yes, for the most part - it's usually better
that way for all involved. :)
CHOCOLATE OR VANILLA?
Chocolate!
FAVOURITE ICE CREAM:
Pistachio, maple walnut, or cookie dough.
CROUTONS OR BACON BITS:
Real bacon bits only. No croutons for me, thanks (they're too hard!)
DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE STUFFED ANIMAL?
Yes, the teddy bear that Mike gave me several
years ago.
WHAT TYPE WAS YOUR FIRST CAR?
I don't yet own a car. But when I do get one, it'll probably be a hybrid, like the Toyota Prius. I'm not a fan of gas-guzzlers.
WHAT IS YOUR DREAM CAR?
My first was a black Pontiac TransAm (remember
Knight Rider?), my second was a Lambourghini Countache. I also like small
cars. I once wanted a Fiat Spider. I really love Mike's Toyota Echo - it's perfect.
