My Fave Links...
AccuRadio
- A fabulous internet radio site that's so much better than streaming. You can choose from many different types of music, including Broadway musicals, and they have lots of sub-channels too. And you can skip any song that you don't want to listen to, at any time.
World Wildlife Fund Canada - Be able to say that you've climbed the CN tower, the world's tallest freestanding building. University of Waterloo - My alma mater. I took my degree in Psychology, but I spent a lot of time in the Math building. This website also has a great Virtual Tour of the campus. Great White North: Dragonboat Racing - This is the centre for organizing Dragonboat Racing in Ontario. I've been to several major competitions through this organization, and participated in a summer racing league. It was great fun, as well as great exercise! The Hunger Site - Your click translates into a donation of food to hungry people around the world. You can also use this link to get to The Breast Cancer Site (provides mammograms to needy women), The Child Health Site, The Rainforest Site, and The Animal Rescue Site. All of which are great causes. United Way of America and
United Way of Canada - "The mission of United Way is to improve people's lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities." My Family-Related Links...Garbett Family Newsletter - This newsletter was created as a means of communication between members of my family. Mostly in the experimental phase right now, but I keep hoping that will change. :) Garbett Genealogy Worldwide Site - This site was created and is maintained by Peter Garbett, and provides a starting place for Garbett's looking to connect with other branches of the family. It also contains a lot of information for those researching their own family history. (Note: this site works best with Internet Explorer.) Webshots - Everyone I know loves this site: it has many great photos, which you can download and use with the free screensaver provided by Webshots. You can also sign up for a free photo album so you can upload your photos and share them with your family and friends. They also have some beautiful greeting cards.
Evite.com - Online Invitations - If you have the inclination to use an online tool to organize your gatherings, this is a good one. You (and your guests, if you wish) can see at a glance who's coming, who's not coming, and - if you use this option - who's bringing what.
My Fun or Amusing Links...Recipe du Jour - A little something that I read now and then. It's an e-zine that brings you a recipe each day, along with a little commentary or whatnot from the editors. I enjoy their humour and narration on life. And the occasional oldie song. :) The Card Games Web Site - I love this site, because it's got oodles and oodles of rules to card games. You can search by the name of the game, the type of card game, or the country where it's played. You can also read up on the basics of playing cards in general. The Mini-Mizer - If you're looking for a cool distraction, try creating a new image for yourself using a LEGO figure! The Dialectizer - Another one of my favourite timewasters. Try typing in any ridiculous story or funny email. (Those crazy fill-in-the-blanks stories from sixth grade are perfect!) And see what it comes up with. :) Darwin Awards: Evolution's Revenge - This is one of my favourite sites of all time. The official description goes like this: "The Darwin Awards honor those who improve our gene pool... by removing themselves from it." Take some time to read some of these... I guarantee you'll laugh yourself into stitches!!! Joe Cartoon - Here's a site that I haven't been to in a while. It used to be part of Shockwave.com, but now Joe Cartoon has his own site. Man, I used to love these!!! Great for stress relief - check out the classic cartoons. WARNING: this site contains some swearing and grossness. Perfect for stress relief, but not so good if you're not expecting it.
