UConn SUBOG Weekend Getaway
Quad Occupancy, $ 99 + $ 19 Hotel Tax & Service Charges
Martin S., Markus D., Sandra G. und ich belagerten zusammen ein Zimmer. Sandra entpuppte sich als Universal-Dolmetscherin und Orientierungsexpertin, sie kommt ja aus Frankreich. Mit einem Stadtplan in der Hand wurde, wahrscheinlich rein um ein gutes Verhaeltnis mit der Bevoelkerung aufzubauen, alle fuenf Meter nach dem Weg gefragt. So fanden wir sicher an jeden Ort. Highlight war sicherlich, als Sandra mit viel Charme es schaffte, dass wir auf das Dach eines Montrealer Nobelhotels zwecks Aussicht durften. Ein Bediensteter dieses Etablissements begleite uns deshalb extra, um die Tueren zum Dach aufzusperren. Merci beaucoup !

Freitag abend: In der Disco "Limelight Club" - war nett !
Samstag: Zuersdt Papa Noel Umzugsparade angeschaut, dann die Stadt besichtigt, Aussicht auf dem Dach eines Hotels genossen, Abendessen deluxe, Casino: Dort gab es auch ein Bar mit Live-Musik und 3 - 4 betagten Damen auf dem Dancefloor, Sandra und ich mischten natuerlich da gleich mit, Kissenschlacht + Ramba Zamba im Hotelzimmer.
Sonntag morgens: Im Untergrund von Montreal die Shops angeschaut.

Wir (Markus D., Markus K., noch drei unkrainische Studenten/innen und ich) wurden von Maria Snihurowych zu ihren Eltern nach Haus eingeladen fuer das traditionelle Thanksgiving Mahl. So ein Truthahn ist schon ein riesen Vieh !!! Er war sehr, sehr lecker zu bereitet, gold braun gebraten, ein Anblick wie gemalt. Dazu gab es Squash, gruene Bohnen, Kartoffeln - ein wahrer Genuss. Die Weinglaeser und natuerlich auch der Wein selbst verliehen der Tafel einen besonderen Glanz. Als Kroenung des ganzen gab es noch selbsgebackene Kuchen: Kuerbis, Apfel und ein spezieller Nuss-Gelee Pie ! Herr Snihurowych tischte sogar noch alles moegliche aus der Hausbar auf: Likoere, Cognac, Schnaepse. Danach sang man zuenftige deutsche (!) Volkslieder ! Nostrowje und vielen Dank fuer den tollen Tag !

Nett war die Begleitungsperson: Quincy Market not Quincy, you habe to understand English ... . Markus, Andreas und ich machten Boston unsicher, besonders ein Dim Sun Restaurant. Dort ging es lustig zu. Die Bedienung verstand uns zwar nicht, sie musste aber dafuer heftig lachen - wir uebrigens auch.
