THE 2005 HENDERSON NEWSLETTER Five o'clock and it's getting dark! Snow piled up in big banks along the street and sidewalks. Temperatures in the teens at night and mid 20's during the day. Sounds like January, but this year it's December in Michigan. Winter will officially begin in a couple of days. I'm already looking forward to spring! Lots of new exciting things at Michael, Michelle and Nicholas' house this year. Mom and dad have been adjusting to their new roles as parents and Nicholas has just been doing his thing. He's growing like a weed. Not walking yet, but walking around holding on to things. Any day now, I am sure. Michael's 9 month CT scan and blood work showed no signs of cancer. He went for his year scan yesterday. Results will be in the first of January. We anticipate that everything is fine. Jennifer is in her second year of Veterinary Medicine at Colorado State University. She has taken in a roommate and things are working out just fine. She house sits and animal sits, as well as works at the library, to help keep paying the bills. She is coming in for the holidays on the 22nd of December and has to return to Colorado right after the 1st of January. Matthew and Ann have been enjoying their new condo and their new dog. They've been getting into the homeowner role by adding some color to their walls. Ann has been working with her father at his insurance firm and Matthew has been looking for a different job. He starts a new job in the Chicago area on December 19th. They have found an apartment there, for the moment, and are in the process of trying to sell their condo. We are happy that he has found a new job, but sad that they wont be here for Sunday dinners. Ann will be looking for work in the Chicago area. David is attending classes at Baker College and completed course work on his Associates Degree in Business. He is working full time as a manager in training for a small sporting goods store with several area locations. He is currently training at the Rochester store, but will have his own store at the end of the training period. He and Tammy are engaged to be married November 24th, 2006. Tammy has been working as the assistant office manager for a mental health facility. Kristen has been adjusting to life as a freshman at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo. She seems to be doing well and enjoying herself at the same time. She is off for a month for Christmas and is doing some office work for Laura and a couple of days at the daycare center. Laura is working as the clinical director at Macomb Family Services, where she supervises 65 therapists and support staff. She also sees numerous clients as a psychotherapist. She is active at church as a Junior High advisor and also sings in the adult choir. She is also on a health quest, working out on a regular schedule at Curves. She has also been honing her grandmother skills with Nicholas. Gary is still working at Jacobsen's Flowers and Garden Town. Growing crops for the spring as well as ordering hard goods and gift ware for the garden center. I am also on a health quest, working out several times a week with Michael with weights and trying to get in three sessions of cardio a week. Ive been learning that being a grandfather is lots of fun! Laura, Matt and Ann, Dave and Tammy, Kristen and I went to Black Lake again in August for a week of fun in the sun and playing with the boat. It was warm and beautiful, unlike last year. Had a great time. Went on a side trip to Tahquamenon Falls in the upper peninsula and also to the Sault Ste. Marie locks. Also managed to do a little fishing. Enjoyable, but not very productive! Too many irons in the fire this year to go on the Michigander bike ride. Did plenty of bike riding, non the less. We are hoping to be able to ride in the 2006 Michigander. It has been another eventful and wonderful year. We have been truly blessed and hope that each of you have been also. May the Peace of the Lord be Yours in the New Year! LOVE FROM THE HENDERSON CLAN |
