PART 1
Lucky Spencer groaned as a knock sounded on his door.
He was just getting ready for bed, and he didn't feel
up to visitors. But he got up anyway, and walked over
to the door. When he opened it he froze in shock.
Standing on the otherside was his best friend, Emily
Bowen-Quartermaine. She was dripping wet from the rain
storm outside, and a huge bruise covered the side of
her face.
"Emmy?" ucky asked. "What happened?" He pulled her
inside and grabbed a blanket off his bed. He wrapped
the blanket around her shoulders and starting rubbing
her arms, trying to warm her up. "What happened,
Emmy?" he repeated, as he guided her to a seat on his
bed.
"I don't wanna talk about," Emily replied in a
whisper.
"Okay, then we won't talk about it. Wanna explain why
you were out in the rain without a coat, hat, or
umbrella?"
"No."
"Okay. Want a soda? Or some Coffee?"
"Soda."
"Wanna answer me with more than one word?" Lucky
replied with a slight grin, trying to calm her down.
Emily looked up at him and tried to smile, but instead
she started crying.
"It's okay, whatever it is it's okay," Lucky said
sitting down next to her and wrapping his arms around
her.
"Zander hit me," Emily whispered.
"What?"
"He hit me. I saw him with drugs. I got mad at him. I
told him to stop or we were over. Then he hit me, and
he..." Emily stopped, and let out a sob.
"And he what?" Lucky asked, trying to keep his voice
even.
"He grabbed me...he..." Emily paused and sobbed again.
She buried her face in Lucky's chest.
"He what?"
"Raped me!" Emily sobbed.
Lucky tensed, and tightened his arms around Emily's
shoulders. "He raped you?"
Emily nodded. "I tried to stop him...I tried, Lucky, I
really did try!"
"I know you did, it'll be okay. I'll make it okay."
"How? How can you make it okay?"
"Doesn't matter, I just will," Lucky replied.
"Don't do something stupid, Spencer. Don't you dare go
and do something stupid," Emily said.
"Who me?" Lucky said.
"Lucky, please, promise me you won't be stupid."
Lucky looked down at her. "Emmy..."
"Promise me."
"I promise."
"Thank you."
Lucky sighed and smoothed her hair. "Em, you need to
go to the hospital..."
"No."
"Emmy..."
"He made me take a shower. There's no evidence."
"You still have to go. He might have...hurt you. He
might have given you something..."
"I don't wanna go. Not tonight."
"Okay, tomorrow. Promise me?"
"I promise."
"Okay."
"Can I stay with you, Lucky?" Please? I feel safe with
you."
Lucky nodded and got off the bed. "You take the bed."
Emily looked up at him. "I'd rather sleep with you
holding me."
Lucky crouched down in front of her. "You sure?"
"Yes."
"Okay. Come on, let's get you under the covers where
it's warm."
"Okay," Emily replied. As Lucky settled into the bed
next to her, and twined her fingers in his. "Thank
you."
"For what?" Lucky asked.
"For takign care of me."
"Anything for you. Now, let's get to sleep."
EMily snuggled into his arms, feeling safe and secure.
~*~*~*~
The next morning, Emily work up with a start, not sure
where she was. Then she remembered what had happened
last night. She looked aroudn for Lucky, then called
out. "Lucky?"
She didn't recive an answer and looked around again.
Then she spotted the note. Emily slowly picked it up
from the nightstand and began to read.
Emmy,
I'm sorry. I know I promised I wouldn't be stupid. But
I am. I can't let him get away with what he did. I'm
going to take care of him. I want you to go to the
hospital and get checked out. If you don't wanna go to
GH, then go to Mercy. Remember, you promised. I love
you, Ems.
Lucky
Emily finished the letter and elt it slip betwene her
fingers. "Oh God!" she cried. She quickly stood and
ran out, hoping she coudl find him before he 'took
care' of Zander.
~*~*~*~
Meanwhile, Lucky walked into the Port Charles Police
Department. He walked up to Dectective Marcus
Taggert's desk and stopped.
Taggert looked up, annoyed. "What?" Then he noticed
the oddly blank look in Lucky's eyes. "Lucky?"
"I'm turning myself in. I just killed Zander Smith."
(END OF PART ONE)
PART TWO
Lucky sat in the interrogation room, looking down at
his hands.
"What happened, Lucky?" Taggert asked.
"I didn't mean to."
"You didn't mean to kill him?"
"Yeah."
"What happened? Start at the beginning."
Lucky took a deep breath and let it out. "Last night
Emily showed up at my apartment. She had a bruise on
her face. She told me..." Lucky paused, then
continued, "She told me that Zander beat her up. She
stayed with me last night. This morning, before she
got up, I left. I wrote her a note saying I was gonna
take care of Zander..."
"What do you mean 'Take care of Zander'?" Taggert
asked.
"I didn't plan on killing him! I mean, I thought about
it! But I wasn't going to! I was just gonna tell him
to leave Emily alone! I was gonna threaten him!"
"So you went to see him?"
"Yeah. But he wasn't at his apartment. So I decided to
go down by the docks to try and calm down. Then I ran
into him. I told him to stay away from her, but he
said she was his and he'd do anything he wanted to
her. I told him I wouldn't let him hurt her and he
took a swing at me. I fought back. I hit him and...I
guess he hit his head on one of the posts on the dock.
He fell into the water." Lucky looked up at the
detective, and looked him straight in the eye, before
he continued. "Taggert, I swear, I looked for him! I
tried to find him and pull him up, But I couldn't see
him! He must have...he must have drowned...I didn't
mean to...I didn't mena to kill him!"
"I know," Taggert replied. "I gotta go tell everyone
where to search for the body." Taggert stood and
walked out, shaking his head. He could see by the look
in Lucky's eyes, the boy had been telling the truth.
~*~*~*~
Emily hadn't found any sign of Lucky or Zander at
Zander's apartment. She had decided that Lucky would
probably have gone to the docks to try and calm down,
so she went there next. But instead of finding Lucky,
she found the Port Charles Police Department searching
the water. She spotted Detective Taggetr and walked up
to him.
"What's going on, Taggert?" she asked, scared of the
answer.
Taggert looked down at her and saw the bruise on her
face. "Emily, you shouldn't be here."
"Does this involve Lucky or Zander?" Emily replied.
Taggert sighed, and nodded. "Yeah. Lucky showed up at
the station and said he accidently killed Zander.
We're searching for the body."
"Is Lucky still there?"
"Yeah..."
Emily didn't wait for Taggert to finish. she took off
running, headed for the police station to see Lucky.
(END OF PART TWO)
PART THREE
Emily raced into the Port Charles Police Station and
walked straight up to the commissioner, Mac Scorpio.
"I want to see Lucky."
"Emily, he confessed to murder, I can't let you see
him."
"He confessed to accidently killing the man who raped
me."
"Raped? Lucky just said Smith beat you!"
"He was protecting my privacy! Let me see him, now!"
Mac was surprised at the firmness in Emily's voice, so
he agreed.
~*~*~*~
Lucky looked up as the door to the interrogation room
opened. His mouth opened in shock when Emily walked
in. "Em? What are you doing here?"
"Did you really think I'd just go to the hospital and
not try to stop you from being stupid? I checked
Zander's apartment, and I didn't find either of you,
so I decided to look on the docks. I ran into Taggert
and he told me you were here."
"I didn't mean to kill him, Emmy, you have to believe
me! I was just gonna threaten him! But he started a
fight..."
"I know. And I know you'll be out of here real soon
since it was self defense."
"I hope so."
"Did you call a lawyer?"
"Yeah, Alexis should be here soon."
"How about right now?" Alexis Davis asked as she
walked in. "How are you doing, Lucky?"
"All right."
"What happened?"
Lucky explained the events of the previous night, and
of that morning, with Emily interjecting when Lucky
tried not to mention the rape.
"Okay, well, the worst they can get you on is a crime
of passion. You were angry that he hurt Emily, and
when you saw him you lost control."
"But that's not what happened!"
"But without a witness you have no proof of what
really happened."
~*~*~*~
Melissa Bedford Wished she hadn't been on the docks
that morning. Then she wouldn't have seen the two
young men fighting, and she wouldn't be being held
hostage by one of them.
She carefully finished wrapping the bandages around
her captor's head. She knew that, considering how
badly he was bleeding, he'd probably pass out soon and
she could get away. Until then she was just going to
bide her time. "There. All done."
"Good," came the reply. "What's your name, anyway?"
"Melissa. Yours?"
"Zander."
(END OF PART THREE)
PART FOUR
Melissa smiled. "Well, nice to meet you, Zander."
"Nice try. I'm not letting you go. You'd just go tell
everyoen I was alive. Then I couldn't sneak up on
Emily and Spencer."
"Spencer?" Melissa asked, suddenly realizing who the
other young man had been. "You don't mean Lucky
Spencer, do you?"
"Yeah, I do. Why?"
"Why would I help him? I hate his aunt!" Melissa
replied, hoping to make him think she was on his side.
"I'm not buying it."
Melissa sighed, deciding to give up. For now, at
least.
~*~*~*~
"How bad could this get?" Emily asked.
Alexis looked between Emily and Lucky, noticing how
Emily clung to Lucky's hand, and he clung back. "Bad.
Remember when Luke was accused of killign Stefan?
There was no body, btu eh was almost convicted. With
no witnesses, and no body, there's no proof that
Lucky's telling the truth."
"How would the body prove it?" Lucky asked.
"There would be damage to the back of the head. It
would look different if it was an accident than if you
delibrately hit his head on something," Alexis
replied.
"Let's hope the find the body," Emily commented.
"If they don't, how much trouble could I be in? I
mean, could I go to jail?"
"Possibly. But I'll do my best to keep that from
happening."
Lucky sighed and put his head down on the table.
"Sonny's all ready trying to get a hold of your dad,
Lucky," Alexis said.
"How'd he know?"
"I was talking to him when I got your call. He asked
what was going on and I todl him you'd been arrested
for murder. He said he'd find Luke."
"Good, 'cause right now I really want my dad."
~*~*~*~
Sonny Corinthos slammed down the phone. "Damn it!"
"What's wrong?" Sonny's wife, Carly, asked.
"I can't find Luke."
"He'll turn up."
"And int eh meantime Lucky's in jail!"
The door to the penthouse opened and the doorman,
Johnny, stuck his head in. "Luek Spencer is here to
see you."
Sonny and Carly exchanged glances and Carly giggled
slightly. "Told you he'd turn up."
(END OF PART FOUR)
PART FIVE
Luke Spencer walked into Sonny and Carly's penthouse.
"How ya' doing? My niece staying out of trouble?" he
asked Sonny with a smirk.
Carly glared at him. "I am, but your son isn't," she
blurted out.
"What the hell is that suppose to mean?" Luke asked.
"Lucky's been arrested for killing Zander Smith,"
Sonny replied, shooting a glare towards Carly.
"Emily's boyfriend?"
"Yeah. Apparently he hurt her, and Lucky went to
threaten him, but they got into a fight and Zander
ended up dead," Carly explained.
"Damn."
"My sentiments exactly," Sonny said. "Lucky's down at
the station. Alexis is all ready there."
"Good, I know she can get him out of this."
"Let's hope so."
~*~*~*~
"Mac!" Taggert said as he walked into the station.
"You found Smith's body?"
"Nope. If Lucky wasn't so sure he was dead, I would
think he'd gotten away."
"Maybe Lucky's wrong?"
"He seemed pretty sure."
"Then let's assume the body was dragged out into
deeper water. I'll call for the water to be dragged."
"And if we don't find him?"
"We'll cross that bridge when we come to it."
~*~*~*~
Lucky, Emily, and Alexis looked up as the door to the
interrogation room opened and Taggert walked in.
"Having a party?" he joked.
"Find him?" Lucky asked.
"No. He probably got drug under. We'll find the body."
"Let him rot," Emily commented.
Taggert's eyes widened. He hadn't expected Emily to
say such a thing. "Excuse me?"
"After what he did to me, he deserves to rot in the
water. Let fish eat him."
"No fish in the lake, Ems, too much pollution," Lucky
reminded her.
"Well, let the chemicals eat him, then."
"I would, gladly, but we have to find the body,"
Taggetr replied.
"Remember what I told you? The head injury will give
us evidence that it was an accident," Alexis added.
"Oh yeah. Well, find him, use the evidence, throw him
back in."
Taggert shook his head. "I wish I could."
~*~*~*~
Melissa glared at the sleeping body of her captor. He
HAD passed out, just like she knew he would, but first
he had tied her up and gagged her.
*I had to take up jogging this morning, didn't I?* she
thought. *No one will even know I'm missing until
Monday when I don't show up for work!*
(END OF PART FIVE)
