The part with Lucky, Emily, Luke, Alexis, and Mac
takes place at the same tiem as the part with the
Quartermaines.

PART SIX

The next morning, Melissa silently watched Zander wake
up and start gathering together the few things he had.
He glanced over at her.

"I'll be back as soon as I can. Once I've taken care
of them, I'll let you go."

Melissa nodded, trying to look thankful. *Like I'm
going to stick around that long?* she thought.

She saw Zander open his backpack, and her eyes widened
as she saw the gun he pulled out.

"They'll pay," Zander muttered. "They'll regret
getting on my bad side."

Melissa watched Zander leave, then began trying to get
free of her bindings. *I've got to warn them!* she
thought, desperately.

~*~*~*~

"This is ridiculous!" Luke Spencer said.

Alexis shot Luek a look before continuing her
conversation with Mac. "Mac, Lucky came right here and
confessed! Do you really think he'll try and run?"
Alexis argued.

"I don't know. He might," Mac replied.

Lucky groaned. "Mac, I won't. I just want out of here.
I'll go right back to my apartment. You can send a cop
to check on me! I'll stay there! I'll get somebody to
bring me food from Kelly's if I have to! I just want
out of here!"

Mac looked at the teenager, and then thought back to
the phonecall he had gotten last night...

~~FLASHBACK~~

Mac picked up the phone as it rang. "Hello?"

"Hi, Uncle Mac!" Came Robin Scorpio's cheerful voice.

Mac smiled. "How you doing?"

"I'm great, I'm feeling good, I haven't even had a
cold lately. What about you? Anything exciting happen
in Port Charles lately?"

Mac winced, but figured he should go ahead and tell
her. "Lucky was arrested for murder last night."

"Lucky Spencer? I can't imagine him killing someone in
cold blood! What happened?"

Mac explained the situation. "So now we're holding
him."

"Uncle Mac, it was an accident! How can you hold him
when he didn't mean to?"

"He still confessed to murder!"

"It doesn't matter! Lucky is a good person. If he says
it was an accident, then it was an accident."

~~END OF FLASHBACK~~

Mac sighed. "Fine, I'll let you go on bail. And you
don't have to stay in your apartment. But be there by
7 tonight, and don't leave until tomorrow morning. Got
it?"

"I got it."

Emily smield at Lucky and squeezed his hand. He
squeezed back, but didn't smile.

"The firts place I'm going is taking Emily to the
hospital. She needs to be checked out."

"No, I don't," Emiyl replied. "I feel fine."

Luke looked between the two, watching the argue. "Am I
missing something here?" he asked Alexis.

Alexis grimaced. She knew she should have told Luke
earlier, but she hadn't. "Zander raped Emily. That's
the real reason this all started."

Luke frowned, then turned to his son and Emily. "I'll
drive you to the hospital."

Lucky looked up at Luke and smiled gratefully.
"Thanks, dad."

~*~*~*~

"Where could that girl be?" Edward Quartermaine,
Emily's grandfather, muttered.

"I wish I knew Grandfather," Skye Chandler, Emily's
sister, said. "I know she never came home last night
or the ngiht before, though."

"We all know that, Skye," Monica Quartermaine, Emily's
mother, replied. "But we want to know where she is."

"I think it's time we go to the police," Alan, Emily's
father, broke in, before his wife and daughter could
get into another fight.

"Yeas, that deviant Zander might have done somethignt
o her."

Edward, Alan, and Monica grabbed their coats and left.

Skye headed upstairs and waited until she was out fo
earshot before saying quietly, "Oops, I guess I forgot
to tell them Commisioner Scorpio called this morning."
She smiled to herself.

~*~*~*~

Lucky and the others were gettign ready to leave when
the Quartermaines came barging in.

"Grandfather! Mom! Dad!" Emily called out, surprised.
"What are you doing here?"

"Emily! What happened?" Monica asked.

"Did that deviant hurt you? Did he get you in
trouble?" Edward asked.

Emily opened her mouth to answer, but instead broek
into tears.

Lucky was by her side in a second. "It's okay, Emmy.
It's okay."

"What the hell is going on?!" Edward bellowed.

Lucky glared at him. "You want to know what's going
on? Zander raped Emily ngiht before last. She's here
because I accidently killed Zander when I went to tell
him to stay away from her. She didn't want to leave."

Mac walked over. "I called the mansion last night.
Skye said she'd pass along the message about where
Emily was."

"Well, she didn't," Monica replied.

"Well, that doesn't matter now. I'm taking Emily to
the hospital to get checked out. If one of you can
keep your mouth shut, you can ride with us. If not,
you can all just follow in your own car," Lucky said,
his arm around Emily's shoulder.

"I'll ride with you," Monica said.

(END OF PART SIX)

PART SEVEN

Lucky, Luke, Alexis, Edward, and Alan sat in the
waiting room at General Hospital. Monica was in with
Emily.

Lucky stood up and started pacing.

"She'll be all right, Cowboy," Luke said, trying to
calm his son down.

"How do you know? What if...what if Zander had
something? What if Em gets sick?" Lucky replied, his
voice half sobbing as he said the last part.

"If she gets sick she'll get the best treatment money
can buy," Edward said.

"Money can't cure AIDS or HIV, Edward," Lucky said,
his eyes filling with tears. "If he gave her either of
those..." he couldn't even finish the sentence.

~*~*~*~

Inside the exam room, Emily gripped Monica's hand as
the doctor spoke.

"Physically, you should recover soon. But you should
have counseling. And you need to get tested for AIDs
and HIV every 6 months for the next 2 years. If you
haven't developed either one by then, you're in the
clear."

"Does this mean I can go?" Emily asked.

"Yes, you can go home."

~*~*~*~

When Emily and Monica walked back into the waiting
room, Lucky turned to face them, his eyes on Emily. He
tried to smile, and reassure her, but he wasn't sure
he did any good.

"I should be okay. But i have to be tested for the
next 2 years," Emily said as she walked up to Lucky.

He wrapped his arms around her and held her. "It'll be
okay, Ems. I promise it will."

"Emily, sweetheart? Why don't we go home and..."

"No. I'm not going home. I'm staying with Lucky,"
Emily replied. "Unless he doesn't want me to?" Emily
asked uncertainly.

"Of course I want you to," Lucky replied.

"Emily, you should come home and..." Edward began.

"No, grandfather. I'm staying with Lucky. I feel safe
with him."

"You're safe with us!" Alan said.

"But Lucky won't lecture me on being so stupid as to
date Zander. You will. All of you will."

Lucky firmly put his arm around Emily's shoulder. "Why
don't we go to Kelly's and get some lunch, okay? Then
we can take a walk through the park, and go back to my
place and talk about inane nonsense."

Emily smiled and put her head on his shoulder. "Sounds
good to me."

~*~*~*~

Melissa let out a grunt of triumph as she felt the
ropes around her wrists loosen. She quickly took off
the gag and untied her ankles. "Now, to go warn Lucky
and Emily."

She slipped out of the abandoned warehouse, and looked
around. She wasn't entirely sure where she was. The
fear of being taken captive had disoriented her that
first morning.

Melissa started walking in the direction she thought
was the docks, and soon heard voices. She smiled
thankfully as she recognized the voices. As she turned
a corner, there they were. "Bobbie! Roy!" she called
out, breaking into a run towards them.

~*~*~*~

Somehow, Lucky and Emily had managed to convince the
Quartermaine's to leave Emily alone. Maybe it was
Lucky's fierce glare, and protective arm around the
girl. Maybe it was Emily distracting them with the
reminder that Skye had known where she was since the
night before.

Lucky and Emily were a block away from Lucky's
apartment, carrying what was left of their grape
sodas, when Lucky got a chill down his back.

"What's wrong?" Emily asked, noticing the odd look on
her best friend's face.

"I don't know, I just got this bad feeling." He
paused, and looked around. "Let's skip the park and
just go back to my place, okay?"

"Sure," Emily replied, knowing better than to doubt
Lucky's instincts. "Don't tell me you can sense
trouble like you mom," she teased.

"Maybe I can," Lucky replied, still frowning. "If so
there's a lot coming."

Emily's teasing smile fell, replaced by and
apprehensive look. "What kind of trouble?" Emily asked
as the walked into the bike shop and headed for the
stairs to Lucky's apartment.

"I don't know. I just know it's coming."

"That's where you're wrong."

Lucky and Emily froze, then slowly turned. Standing
behind them was Zander. Alive, well, and holding a
gun.

"I thought I killed you," Lucky whispered.

"Not likely. Smith's don't kill easily. Your dad
couldn't kill my grampa."

Lucky froze, suddenly realizing what had been so
familiar about Zander. "Alexander?" he whispered.

"So now you recognize me! Mom and grampa would be
disappointed that the great Luke Spencer's son was so
clueless."

"Lucky?" Emily asked, terrified.

"He's Jennifer Smith's son. And Frank Smith's
grandson."

"Frank Smith as in...?" Emily asked, things licking
into place.

"The guy who made mom, dad, and I's lives a living
hell for 10 years," Lucky answered. "You're right,
Alexander, I should have recognized you. I should have
remember that cold look in your eyes. You had when you
were 9 and you have it now."

"Aw, so you do remember."

"I remember thinking you were my friend. Then finding
out you were just helping Frank grab me. You know, I
still have a scar on my back from that broken pipe,"
Lucky said, seeing movement behind Zander and trying
to keep the other man's attention on him.

"Yeah, that was my idea. Grampa was so proud of me. I
just loved the crunching sound and your whimpers."

"Psycho!" Emily screamed. "I should have let you go to
jail after you kidnapped me!"

"Yeah, you should have!" Zander replied, raising his
gun and aiming at Emily. "Good bye, rich b**ch!"

Lucky saw the figure leap out towards Zander, and, as
a gunshot rang out, he shoved Emily aside.

~*~*~*~

Roy listened to Lucky talking to Zander, and realized
the teenager knew he was there. He was debating his
next move when he saw Zander raise the gun. *Now or
never,* he thought.

Roy jumped out and tackled Zander to the ground. But
just as he hit the man, the gun went off. Roy banged
Zander's head into the concrete floor, then looked up.
Lucky and Emily were laying in a pool of blood. And
neither one was moving.

(END OF PART SEVEN)

PART NINE

"Bobbie! Melissa!" Roy yelled. He wanted to check on
Lucky and Emily, but he didn't want to leave Zander
unguarded.

Bobbie Spencer and Melissa ran in. "Wha...?" Bobbie
began to ask, then she spotted Lucky and Emily on the
floor. "Oh God!"

The two women raced over to the teens and moved Lucky
off of Emily. As they did, Emily regained
consciousness.

"What happened?" she asked, raising a hand to her
head. Then she saw the blood and looked over to where
Bobbie was tending to Lucky, who was still out cold.
"Oh God!"

"He'll be okay," Melissa sid, trying to comfort the
girl.

"You don't understand! If that blood is mine he could
get sick! I might have been exposed to HIV or AIDs!"

"It's not you blood," Bobbie reassured, "It's Lucky's.
The bullet hit him in the shoulder."

"Guess I didn't move quick enough," Roy said.

"If I bled even a little..." Emily whispered.

"You don't seem to be bleeding. Does anywhere hurt?"
Melissa asked.

"My head and ankle."

Melissa checked, and saw that, all though a bump was
forming, Emily's head wasn't bleeding. And her ankle,
though broken, wasn't bleeding either. "You're okay,
no blood."

Emily let out a sob of relief. "Thank God!"

Just then, the bike shop door opened. Taggert, Mac,
and several other coops barged in, guns raised.

"Are we late?" Taggert asked noticing Roy was sitting
on top of Zander.

"A little," Lucky muttered as he woke up. "Ugh, is
Emily okay?" he asked Bobbie.

"I'm fine," Emily replied. "The blood's yours."

"It is?" Lucky asked. Then he moved his right
shoulder. "Oh, I see where from..." He looked up at
Emily's concerned face and tried to grin. "You sure
you're okay?"

"Bump on my head and a broken ankle. You got shot,
though."

"Doesn't matter. I've been shot before. And by better
shots that him," Lucky replied, then he looked up at
Taggert. "Any chance I can get an ambulance? I think I
need one."

"All ready on it's way."

"Good....hey! I guess I can't be charged with murder
now!" Lucky said with a straight face.

"No, you can't."

"Uh, Sir?" one of the officers called out to Mac. "We
got a problem. I think the kid is dead."

Mac bent down and checked for a pulse. "No pulse."

"Did he hit his head when eh fell?" Melissa asked Roy.

"I think so," Roy replied.

"It must have been too much for him. He probably
hemmoraged. Nothing could have saved him."

"One less person to worry about," Lucky said as he was
carefully loaded onto a stretcher. "Oh, Aunt Bobbie?
Can you call my dad? He needs to know something."

"What?"

"Frank Smith's alive," and, with that, Lucky lost
consciousness again.

(END OF PART EIGHT)

PART NINE

"And that's when Roy tackled him," Lucky finished
recounting what had happened.

Luke shook his head. "I should have made sure Frank
died when I shot him."

"Not you're fault. At least now we know to watch out
for him," Lucky replied.

"Hey, Spencer," Emily said as she walked in, carrying
a bouquet of roses. "Grandmother sent these over.
their from her garden."

Lucky smiled. "Tell her thanks."

"I will."

Luek looked between the two, and smiled. "I better go
talk to Sonny about putting guards on you two. Frank
might go after either of you."

"I got a better idea," Carly said from the doorway,
"But first, how ya' doing, cuz?"

Lucky grinned. "I'm fine, Carly. Eager to get the hell
out fo here, but fine."

"Good."

"What's your better idea?" Emily asked.

"Jason's out trying to track down Smith, so the other
penthouse is unoccupied. You two can have it. That way
you're safe, comfortable, and no one has to worry
about you since there'll be a guard at the door 24/7.
What do you think?"

"You both asking Sonny about this?" Luek asked.

"Yes, and he loved the idea."

"If Sonny agrees, then it's fine with me. What about
you?" Lucky asked Emily.

"Soudns good," Emily replied "Thanks Carly."

"No prob. Now, Uncle Luke, let's go see about gettign
their stuff moved, shall we?" Carly said.

Luke grinned. "Yeah, why don't we, Caroline," he
replied.

"Don't call me Caroline. I hate that, and you know
it."

"I only tease because I love you."

Emily giggled as the walked out, all ready starting to
bicker.

"You sure you don't mind living across from Carly?"
Lucky asked.

"I can deal with her. Besides, I'll be closer to
Micheal."

"Good point."

"The real problem will be living with you and being
able to do anything," Emiyl said wistfully.

"2 years. Then, when you test negative, we can be
together in every way."

Emily smiled sadly. "And if I test positive?"

"I'll stand by you through everything."

Emily smiled. "I love you."

"I love you, too," Lucky replied. Raising her hand to
his lips and kissing it. "In 2 years I'm gonna give
you the biggest kiss you've ever had."

"You better."

(END OF PART NINE)

EPILOGUE

Lucky and Emily walked into the park and looked
around. It was the 4th of July. But more than that it
was a day of freedom for Lucky and Emily.

Emily had gotten her final test results that morning.
She was in the clear. After 2 years of worry, 2 years
not being able to kiss the man she loved, she was
finally free to be with Lucky.

"Why so serious, Emmy?" Lucky asked as he wrapped his
arms around her waist from behind.

Emily turned in his arms and looped her arms around
his neck. "I'm just thinking about how I finally feel
free of Zander. He can't hurt me anymore."

"No, he can't. And no else will either. I won't let
them," Lucky replied, kissing her forehead.

"Has Sonny heard anything about the Smiths?"

"Nope. I guess Frank and Jennifer are still keeping
quiet. But when they come, I won't let them hurt you."

"I know you won't," Emiyl replied, kissing him deeply.
"You still owe me that biggest kiss I've ever had."

"Tonight. When we're alone," Lucky replied, a grin on
his face.

"Ooh! Can we skip the picnic and go straight to
tonight?" Emily asked, grinning back.

"I wish!' Lucky said. Then he kissed her again.

"All right you two," Luke called, his voice cheerful,
"How about knocking off the mushy stuff and coming to
celebrate?"

Lucky and Emily laughed slightly. "We're coming, Dad!"
Lucky replied. He took Emily's hand, and the couple
headed off to join their families on the picnic
blankets set up in oen corner of the park.

Despite their differences, the Spencers and
Quartermaines had actually decided they liked
eachother, though Edward continued to deny it. In
fact, Carly and Skye were involved in a business
venture together, though they were keeping it quiet
for the time being.
