CHAPTER 1

It’s now five years later. Brenda and Jax eventually

were married in a small ceremony. They’ve been

married for almost four years. Brenda still helped

Lois run L&B and she now was owner of Barrett

Fashions. Brenda has become a shell of her former

self. She is no longer the happy optimistic person

she once was. She is now, harder, business minded

and more shut off from the world. Brenda and Jax never

had children because Brenda never envisioned having

children with anyone other than Sonny, although she

never told anyone that. She now had her husband, if you’d

call him that. He was hardly ever home and you could

tell that he wasn’t truly happy in this situation. It hurt

him that he would never be able to hold her heart

like Sonny once had. He just gave up trying.

All Brenda basically had now was work and her friends

and she threw herself into both of them. Barrett Fashions

was so popular that it became one of the most

respected, highest grossing companies in New York.

It made clothes and accessories for the average person

with reasonable prices. Brenda, Robin and Lois are

closer than they have been in years. She wasn’t the

happiest that she’s ever been but this was the life

she built herself and there was nothingshe could do now

to change it. Little did she know that very shortly a blast

from the past would arrive in town to shake everything up

again.

CHAPTER 2

We see the shadow of a figure sitting in what seems to

be a plane. The camera scans up and we see his face for

the first time. It’s none other than Sonny Corinthos. He

looked a little worse for the ware but still sexy as ever.

His hair was a little longer and he now sported a goatee.

A smile appears on his face and we hear the pilot

announce “we will be landing in Port Charles shortly”.

His mind began wondering back to the time he had

spend in PC many years ago. He wondered how all

of his friends were doing. He hadn’t kept in touch with

anyone since he left. After the plane has landed he steps

off and is not surprised to see that no one is there to

see him. No one knows that he’s coming home. He

only hoped that they would understand why he had to

leave. More importantly he hoped that she would

understand why and not hate him for it. He picked up his

bags and took at taxi from the airport.

Brenda and Lois had been working all day on contract

negotiations. They finally finished and decided they

should take a break and have lunch.

L- Where should we go for lunch today?

B- How about Kelly’s, we haven’t been there in a while.

L- Kelly’s it is.

They go to Kelly’s and have a small lunch. Lois notices

that Brenda seemed a more distant than usual today and

was afraid that she was shutting down again.

L- Bren, are you okay? I can tell that something is on

your mind. I’m always here if you wanna talk about it.

B- I’m okay Lo and thanks. I just have a lot on my mind.

L- I guess that’s good enough for now. I have to go

home and see Brooke but I’ll call ya later, okay.

B- Okay, I’ll be home all night. Give Brooke my love.

L- Will do. Take it easy girlfriend.

Lois leaves Kelly’s and Brenda sits there for a few more

minutes thinking. She grabs her coat and walks until she

reaches the docks. She did have something heavy on her

mind. Today was marked ten years since she had

officially met Sonny on the docks. She thinks back to

that November day.

Flashback:

Sonny is sitting on the bench at the docks. He sighs,

gets up and starts towalk away. Brenda comes across

the dock carrying luggage and drops it all.

S: Whoa, whoa. (runs over and starts to pick up some

suitcases) Can I- whoa, hey- can I help you out here?

B: Uh, I've got it thank you.

S: Uh, what's going on here? Are you alright?

B: Yeah.

S: It's not a great neighborhood for you to be walking

by yourself. Can I takeyou back to Kelly's?

B: No thank you.

S: Isn't that where you live ?

B: I used to.

S: So where are you goin'?

B: Look, I got a lousy parking spot okay?

S: Well I'd be happy to escort you there.

B: It's really nice of you but I think I'd just rather

do it on my own.

S: Do I- do I sense some hostility here? What is this

coming from a friend of a friend?

B: To tell you the truth my friends don't find you very

friendly.

S: And you let other people make up your mind for

you? That suprises me.

B: Well I guess it's just your day for suprises then

isn't it?

S: So quick to make judgement? You know, (snaps)

all this time and we haven't been properly introduced.

(smiles) I'm Sonny Corinthos.

B: And I'm leaving. (they both pick up the same

suitcase) Look, I have to go

okay? (let's go of the suitcase)

S: Well it was nice to meet you ... what was your name

again? (B sighs and

S reaches over and takes her hand)

B: Brenda (picks up her luggage and leaves)

S: See you later Brenda. (B goes up the stairs)

End of Flashback

Brenda sighs and walks out to the edge of the docks.

She looks out into the water and wonderswhere he is.

She has thought about him a lot since he left. More so

now that Jax was always away on business trips. She

always wondered how her life would have turned out if

she and Sonny had gotten married thatday. She

suddenly feels like she’s being watch but quickly brushes

it off. She sits there a few more minutes and gets up to

walk home.

Sonny’s first stop in PC was Luke’s. Luke was more

than surprised to see him. They caught up and Sonny

told Luke that he was back in town to stay. Luke than

offered him back his partnership at Luke’s if he wanted it.

Sonny gladly excepted and moved back into the

apartment above Luke’s. He walked in and the

memories of the times he and Brenda had spent together

came flooding back. He couldn’t deal with it so he

went for a walk. Shortly he ended up at the docks.

That is when he saw her and it clicked. Today was

ten years since they had met at this very place. He knew

what she was thinking because he was thinking the same.

He watched her until she got up and walkedaway and now

knew more than ever that he would do anything to get her

back in his life.

CHAPTER 3

Brenda opened the door to her/Jax’s penthouse and

wasn’t surprised to find it dark and empty. It was just

another ordinary night. She puts her coat in the closet

on the hanger then walks into the kitchen. She opens

the freezer and takes out a frozen dinner, opens it and

places it in the microwave. She laughs realizing that she’ll

never know how to cook a real dinner. Then she goes

in to the bedroom to change. She slips on a pair of sweat

and t-shirt and puts herhair up in a messy bun. She walks

out into the living room and the phone rings. She picks it

up figuring it would be Lois who had early said she was

going to call.

B- Hello?

V- Hi luv, how are you doing?

B- Oh hi, Jax, I’m fine. How’s your trip coming along?

Will you be home soon?

J- That’s what I was calling to tell you about. The

meetings are running long and I’ll probably be here

another week.

B- A whole week??

J- Yes, sorry luv, but I can’t be helped.

B- It’s okay, I understand (she thinks “I should have

expected this, it usually happens everytime” Why do

I even care?”)

J- Have a nice night Brender, I’ll call you tomorrow.

I love you.

B- Yeah me too. (sighs) Talk to you tomorrow.

She hangs up the phone and gets her dinner out of the

microwave. She puts it on a tray and sits down on the

couch. She tries to enjoy it when the phone rings again

and Brenda silently prays that it’s not Jax calling her back.

B- Hello?

V- Hiya Bren, whatcha doin’?

B- Hi Lo, nothing much just eating dinner.

L- You sound upset. Are you okay?

B- You know me too well I guess. Jax just called to tell

me that he’s gonna be away another week. I really

should have expected it, but I always hope the next trip

it will be different, like maybe for one he’ll put me before

his business.

L- I understand Bren. Hey, how about I get Nedly to

watch Brooke and Ben tomorrow night and me and

you go to dinna together?

B- Oh I don’t know Lo.

L- Well I do, you need to get out of that place. How

about we go to Luke’s. They are going to have that

new group O-Town to perform there.

B- Where have I heard of them before?

L- They have that TV show. The one that looks so

fake but everyone wishes that they could have come

up with that idea.

B- Oh yeah, now I know what you’re talking about.

I guess it would be good for me to get out. Okay

you have yourself a date.

L- That’s great Bren. We haven’t gone out to dinner

in a while. I’ll be lookin’ forwad to it. I gotta go, the

kids are hungry and I gotta cook somethin’ for ‘em.

B- Ok. See ya tomorrow about 8?

L- Yeah 8’s great. Bye girlfriend.

B- Bye Lo.

The next night

Sonny walks out of his apartment and goes to sit by

the bar to talk with Luke. We notice that he is now

clean shaven and his hair is shorter.

Lu- Hey man, you’re lookin’ good tonight. You gotta

hot date or something?

S- Nah. Just thought I’d hang out here with you.

Lu- We are gonna be busy here tonight. I don’t

know if told you but the stupid tv show group is going

to perform.

S- Do they sing the blues?

Lu- No, they’re pop. Lucky practically forced me to

have them here for Emily.

S- Ha ha, anything for the girl you like.

Lu- Yeah I guess. You gonna come down for the

concert?

S- Yeah I guess I’ll hang out with the other old man

who owns this bar.

Lu- You better not be speaking of me, I’m young

at heart.

S- Yeah sure.

Later that night

Brenda and Lois walk into a packed Luke’s. They of

course get a table near the stage. Brenda gets a funny

feeling, the type of feeling she has when Sonny’s near,

she knows that he’s not there and figures it’s just

because she’s at Luke’s.

L- What do think about L&B signing a boy band?

B- Well they would really have to be able to sing

and dance.

L- Of course, we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Luke sees Brenda and Lois talking and then he remembers

that Sonny is coming to the show. Before he can say

anything to Lois Sonny comes and sits down at the bar.

S- Hey, quite a turn out.

Lu- (staring at Brenda and Lois) Yeah

Sonny notices that Luke is staring at someone. He turns

around and immediately see Lois and Brenda. He

watches them can’t help but think of how beautiful

Brenda looks. Lois looks up and sees Sonny sitting

at the bar and almost chokes on her drink.

L- Oh gosh.

B- What’s the matter Lo? What’s wrong??

L- (still looking at Sonny) I just remembered that we

needed to take care of the last minute details of the

contracts. Why don’t we go do that right now?

B- We already finished them the other day? What’s

going on? (Brenda turns around to where Lois is staring

and her eyes fall on Sonny. She is momentarily shocked)

(Barely auditable)Sonny...

CHAPTER 4

Brenda and Sonny stare into each other’s eyes for what

seems like an eternity but in reality is only a few seconds

until Brenda can no longer feel her legs and has to sit

down. Lois looks at Brenda with concern. Lois, Robin,

Ned, Jax and Julia are the only people who knew how

badly Brenda was after Sonny left and how she hasn’t

really been the same since.

Sonny can hardly breathe because Brenda is so close

to him. He looks deeply in her eyes and all he can see

is pain, anger and a deep sadness about her. It kills

him to know that he’s the one who put it there.

Brenda looks at Lois and Lois nods in agreement. They both

quietly get up and start to walk toward the door. Sonny

watches as they go and before Brenda can walk completely

out the door he yells after her.

S- Wait Brenda!! (She turns to look at him, everyone

has stopped and are now watching them too)

B- Why should I do anything for you??

S- At least just give me a chance to explain.

B- Explain... Why so you can just lie to me again?

S- Please just five minutes. (he looks at her hopefully)

B- (looks to Lois who nods her head) Fine you’ve

got five minutes and not a second longer.

S- Thank you. Can we go into my office?

B- Don’t thank me! Yeah whatever.

Sonny grabs Brenda’s hand to lead her to his office

and they can both feel the electricity flow between them.

Sonny looks up at her and she looks angrily back at him.

She notices the way he was looking at her but she’s too

mad to do anything about it. They walk into his office

and he shuts the door.

S- Please have a seat. (he gestures to the couch)

B- No thanks, I won’t be staying very long.

S- Brenda, could you calm down and let me explain?

B- Calm down? You want me to calm down when

the man I loved leaves me at the altar on our wedding

day, then waltzes back in town years later and acts

like he never did a thing wrong? I don’t think this is

the time for calm. Now you better start your pathetic

explanations for using me and then leaving me,

because that’s all I was right “a great ride”?

S- (sighs) Brenda you were never just “a great ride”

to me. I love you with my whole heart and soul and

I fully intended to marry you that day.

B- Then what happened Sonny, cold feet?

S- Brenda, do you remember me having that nightmare

and I was screaming your name? (she nods) Well the

nightmare was you dying just like Lily did. I left to

protect you. The men who wanted to kill us would have

followed us to the ends of the earth. I couldn’t let you

give up everything to go on the run, being chased everyday.

You deserved better than that.

B- Don’t you understand? I was willing to give up

everything for you. I loved you that much. Then you

changed the plans without even discussinwith me.

It was my life too. It really hurt to believe that everything

we shared meant nothing to you when it meant everything

to me.

S- I’m sorry Brenda, I didn‘t leave to hurt you. I left so

I wouldn’t get you hurt.

B- Well, Sonny, you should know by now that you

can’t protect my from my life and the pain that I’ve felt.

S- If it means anything to you, I’ve regretted leaving

you everyday for the last five years. I’ve thought about

you and how our life could have been every second of

every day.

B- (smiles) I used to think about how our life together

would have been too. But I haven’t for a long time

now. I realized it was just another dream that wasn’t

meant to come true.

S- What makes you think it still can’t?

B- I don’t think, I know. It can’t because I’m a

married woman now. I’ve moved on and put us

behind me and I suggest you do the same. (looks at

her watch) Well, five minutes are up and Lois is waiting

for me so I have to go.

S- I’m not leaving again so maybe we could see each

other sometime?

B- Sonny, I gotta go. (she turns and walks out of his

office)

S- (watches her leave) (low) I still love you Brenda,

I always will. (A sad smile comes to his face and

he leaves his office and goes upstairs to their old

apartment.)

We then see Brenda at her penthouse. She is sitting,

looking out the window watching the stars shining in the

sky. Her mind wonders back to the first time Sonny ever

told her that he loved her.

Flashback:

S: I can't let you walk out of here this way.

B: Are you saying that you want to share everything

with me?

S: With you? Yeah, I'll figure it out.

B: Do you know how much I love you?

S: I know.

B: You really can't say it can you?

S: How many times do I have to tell you sweetheart?

It ain't the words that count, it's the actions.

B: Yeah, but sometimes some words count a little more

than others. But, it's okay. It really is. Exactly what

you're doing is enough for me right now.

S: I'll show you enough. (he pauses and looks deeply

into her eyes) I love you Brenda.

B: I know

End of Flashback

Tears start to flow from her eyes as she slips into

another memory. She remembers her 21st birthday

party that he had for her and how he told everyone

there how he felt about her.

Flashback:

S: I'm not as good with pretty words as my partner

and I can't sing a note so bear with me, I wanna make

this official. Brenda saved my life and she's been going

right on saving it ever since. All the goods things in my

life I owe to her in one way or the other and I just

wanna, I wanna be able to repay you someday, I don't

care if it takes the rest of our lives which I kinda, sorta

hope it will. So here's to you sweetheart.

End of Flashback

She smiles at the memory. Then she remembers the

time she questioned him on how he really felt for her.

Flashback:

S: Is it enough to say that you make the blood in my

veins so hot I can barely touch my own skin? I have

never wanted another woman as much as I want you.

Is it enough to say that I think about your face, your

mouth... and when I do, I just want to stop whatever

I'm doing and make love to you.

End of Flashback

Brenda sits there thinking to herself for few more minutes.

“I wonder if that’s how you still feel? God only knows

how I feel for you. (smiles) Maybe he doesn’t even know.

Why am I letting you get all these feelings, that I have

tried to forget and push away, stirred up in me again?

I’m married, I shouldn’t be feeling like this for another

man, but I just can help it. What on earth am I gonna do?”

She decides to give up all logical thinking ago to bed

hoping that she’ll understand it more in the morning, even

though it wasn’t likely.

CHAPTER 5

The next morning

Sonny decides he better go and see Lois and explain

things to her. He goes to the Gatehouse and hopes that,

that is where she’s living. He knocks on the door and a

little boy answers it.

LB- Hi

S- Hello

We can hear a background voice and realize it’s

Lois’s voice.

L- Ben, what did I tell you about answering the..

(sees that Sonny is there) Ben go to your room and

I’ll be up to talk with you in a minute.

S- Hi Lois.

L- Sonny, it’s nice to see you.

S- Yeah, I’ve missed you Lois. (they hug)

L- Do ya wanna come in?

S- Okay, for a little while, yeah.

They sit together and Sonny tells Lois where he’s been

and some of the things that’s happened to him over the

past few years. They drink coffee and remember how

they met up with each other all those years ago, at the

Outback. Sonny immediately thinks of Brenda because

she was the one who brought them back together again.

Lois notices they far off look on his face and decides to

call him on it.

L- You still think of her like crazy, don’t you?

S- (pulled out of his memory) Huh? What?

L- I knew it. You’re still in love with Bren, aren’t you?

Don’t deny it because I seen the look on your face

last night.

S- What if I am?

L- Sonny, you can’t begin to know what your leaving

did to Brenda.

S- What happened to Brenda?

L- It’s not for me tell you. She’ll have to tell you that

if she thinks you should know. What I do wanna tell

you is that she’s changed Sonny and only some for the

better. She’s not the same girl you left at the altar.

She’s a successful businesswoman but she’s partly shut

off from the world. She doesn’t let people in her life as

easy as she used to.

S- How bad did it get?

L- Pretty bad. Sonny, tell me the truth, do you plan

on trying to get her back?

S- I’m gonna try. I love her Lois, we’re meant to

be together. I know she loves me, now I just have

to remind her of that.

L- You have to prove to her that you’re gonna be here.

Show her that you don’t plan on leaving anytime soon.

Show her that you won’t break her heart again.

S- That’s exactly what I plan to do Lois. I have my

partnership at Luke’s back. I have my old apartment

above Luke’s. I came back to stay. This is my home,

this is where my friends are, but most importantly, this is

where the love of my life is.

L- Well, it’s good to have you back, Corinthos.

At Barrett Fashions

Brenda is in a meeting. Her main designer is going over

some of the new materials for the fall line. Brenda tries to

pay attention but her mind keeps wandering back to

yesterday with Sonny. “He didn’t leave to hurt me, he

left to protect me.” “How can I believe that?” “Do I

want to believe that?” “Yeah, I do.” “Now what do I

do?”

D- Brenda?.. Brenda?..

B- (snaps out of her thoughts) What?

D- What do you think of the new color blends?

B- I’ll have to get back to you on that. I need some air.

She quickly gets up and walks out of the room. She

grabs her purse and walks out of the building. She walks

and walks until she ends up at the docks. She walks

down the stairs and sits on the bench, their bench.

B- (thinking out-loud) Why do I always end up here??

S- The same way I always end up here. Fate.

B- What are you doing here?

S- I’m on my way to Luke’s. What are you doing

here?

B- What am I doing here? It’s a public bench.

S- Hey, I was just making conversation. I’m sorry if

I bothered you. You know we do live in the same

town and we are bound to bump into each other so

you better get used to it.

Sonny leaves Brenda to think about what he has said.

She realizes that he’s right, they do share mutual friends

and will most likely run into each other often. Now all

she had to do was figure out how to get him, and his

mere presence in a room, not to affect her as much as

it always does.
