Déjà Vu Chapters 6-10
Chapter
6
Sonny has been with Brenda for a month now and they are
becoming very close. Brenda lives with fear everyday that he is going to
remember everything and then leave her. She had made several slip ups but she
had always managed to cover them up, as Jagger Cates had once told her, she is
a class act. A class act that can act very well. Sonny had woke her up many
nights, remembering the torturous events of his youth. He couldn't remember
anything but some big guy pummeling him beyond belief. He didn't necessarily
know that the little boy in the dreams was him, but either way the horrible
nightmares were still happening, and he still woke up screaming in the middle
of the night. Brenda was becoming worried about him because of his lack of
sleep. Brenda is sitting on the couch, reading the morning newspaper and
sipping a cup of coffee when Sonny comes down. Brenda looks up at him.
B: " Feel better this morning?"
S: " Yeah. You know I'm really sorry that I keep distracting you from your
sleep."
B: " Hey, It's not your fault."
S: " Brenda, you have been such great comfort for me. I can't tell you how
much I appreciate you putting up with my screaming in the middle of the
night."
B: " Listen Sonny, I like you a lot and I want to take care of you. I enjoy
taking care of you."
S: " You're incredible Brenda. I have never known anybody like you, well
that I can remember anyway."
B: " You're pretty incredible yourself."
S: " You haven't seen anything yet. I cooked myself lunch yesterday and it
tasted pretty incredible. I seem to know how to cook."
B: " Oh really? You'll have to make me dinner."
S: " That's the plan. Ms. Barrett, let's switch places tonight. Let me
pamper you."
B: " Well…okay, you have a deal." Brenda puts her feet up on the sofa
and reads a book while Sonny goes into the kitchen to prepare dinner. An hour
later Sonny has dinner sitting at the table, ready to be eaten. Brenda smells
the pasta with clam sauce and Brandy.
B: " Mmm…This smells incredible."
S: " Why thank you. I have know idea how I knew how to cook this but it
just came natural."
B: " You see there, you were born with a talent."
S: (Laughs) " Yeah, I guess I'm lucky to at least be good at something. I
mean look at you. You are smart and pretty and you can act, sing and do anything
else you put your mind to doing."
B: (Sarcastically)" Yeah, I'm just this perfect person."
S: " Oh come on Brenda, give yourself some more credit. You are a
beautiful lady, on the inside and out."
B: " You're so charming and sweet, what did I do to deserve somebody like
you as a houseguest?"
S: " I believe this was destined to happen. Do you believe in fate?"
B: " Do I believe in fate? Yeah, I guess I do. I mean fate landed me here
in Minnesota and fate brought you into my life, something I wouldn't change for
anything. I like you a lot Sonny. I'm beginning to think that I'm falling in
love with you."
S: (Seems shocked) " You're falling in love with me?"
B: " Yes. Why does that seem so hard to believe?"
S: " Oh, I don't know. I just wouldn't think that I would be your
type."
B: " Yes, you are my type. I have never known anybody like you."
S: " Really? Brenda you are spoiling me. You better stop this or I might
start expecting it all the time."
B: " Go ahead, I want you to. I want you to feel the same way about
me."
Sonny just looked at her, still not believing that this beautiful creature is
in love with him.
Chapter
7
A couple of weeks went by and Sonny and Brenda have become
even closer, Brenda trying to show Sonny that her statement at dinner a couple
of weeks prior had come from the bottom of her heart. And Sonny, well let's
just say that Sonny was beginning to return those intense feelings of love for
this woman, the woman that had saved him. Something in him told him that his
feelings for her didn't seem new, it felt like they had been there for years
now but he didn't know how that could be.
One day, they are outside taking a walk along the docks. Sonny suddenly becomes
silent, so silent that Brenda begins to worry. 'Oh no what if he is
remembering?' She thinks to herself. Sonny is still being very silent,
something Brenda said about a boxing match between two heavy-weights had
triggered something in his brain, a memory.
Flashback:
S: "Where is he?"
B: "Have you ever heard of knocking? I might not have been decent. What
would we have done then?"
S: "We might have thought of something, but right now I'm looking for
Jagger."
B: "Jagger? What a coincidence, so am I."
End of Flashback
Sonny looked up at Brenda completely confused. He willed himself to say nothing
to her, he didn't want to bring this up with her until he was positive that the
person in that vision was really her. As they continued to walk along the docks
he started to have another vision. He sees himself, or the person that he was
before rushing towards somebody to help them with their luggage. He wills
himself to remember more.
Flashback:
S: (Rushes down the stairs) "Woah...woah...Can I help you out
here?"
B: (Nervously) "I...I...I've got it. Thank you."
S: "Uh...what's going on here? Are you alright?"
B: "Yeah." S: "Can I take you...It's not a great neighborhood
for you to be walking by yourself. Can I just walk you back to Kelly's?"
B: "No thank you."
S: "Isn't that where you live"
B: "I used to."
S: "So where you going?"
B: "Look, I just got a lousy parking place, okay?"
S: "Well, I'll be happy to escort you there." (Brenda stands up and
begins to get an attitude.)
B: "That's really nice of you but I think I would rather do it on my
own."
S: "Do I...Do I sense a little hostility here? What is this, coming from a
friend of a friend?"
B: "To tell you the truth my friends don't find you very friendly."
S: "And you let other people make up your mind for you? That surprises
me."
B: "Well, I guess it is your day for surprises then, isn't it?"
S: "So quick to make judgements? You know, all this time and we haven't
been properly introduced. I'm Sonny Corinthos." (He holds his hand out for
her to shake but she doesn't.)
B: "And I'm leaving." (She goes to pick up the suitcase but Sonny
grabs hold of it too. She is irritated) "Look, I...I have to go ok?"
S: "Well it was nice to meet you...what was your name again?" (He
extends his hand out to her. When she puts her hand up Sonny grabs it.)
B: "Brenda." (She jerks her hand away from him and runs up the
stairs. Sonny watches her go.)
S: "See you later Brenda."
End of Flashback
Sonny glances over at Brenda, who is smiling. Something was definitely up, that
girl in both of the visions that he had involved Brenda. She had been lying to
him about it the whole time. Maybe they had been friends when he had been the
other person. He just wouldn't say anything to her about these visions, not
until he knew for sure. He was bound to have more memories come back to him.
Chapter
8
As the week went by Sonny continued to have flashes of his
past life. He still didn't know what he had been with Brenda, had they been
friends, brother and sister, husband and wife? Lovers? He didn't know exactly
what they had been before but something in him told him that whatever it was,
it had been intense. He just had that feeling. He still hadn't brought it up to
Brenda but he knew that he couldn't keep pretending, not when Brenda was
beginning to figure out that something is going on. Brenda comes in at that
moment.
B: "Hey Sonny, what's going on? I'm worried about you. Are you ok?"
S: "I'm fine Brenda but there is something that I want to ask you."
B: "Sure, anything."
S: "Well, for the past week I have been having flashbacks of my life before
the accident."
B: (Nervously) "I see, go on."
S: "Well, I see me and this beautiful girl. That beautiful girl, being
you…I thought you said that we didn't know each other before…"
B: "Listen Sonny, I really can't talk about this right now."
S: "Not only can you talk about this…you will. Please Brenda, for my sake
I want to know what you and I were to each other."
B: "It doesn't matter Sonny…please it is in the past, can't we leave it
there?"
S: "No Brenda, Damn it, we are going to talk about this!"(He grabs
hold of her arm)
B: "Let go of my arm Sonny."
S: "No. Not until you tell me exactly what we were to each other."
B: "Alright Sonny…you wanna know what we were to each other? Ok here it
goes. We were two people that were so meant to be together, we were soulmates,
my heart beat for you and only you. And your heart did the same. We loved each
other so much."
S: "Then we were lovers."
B: "I would call it a little more than just lovers."
S: "Why didn't you tell me Brenda, why didn't you tell me that we were
that close?"
B: "Because Sonny, I was afraid."
S: "Well Brenda, now I can't trust you. How do I know that you won't lie
again?"
B: "You don't…But that is just the chance that you will have to
take."
S: "I want to know why our relationship ended."
B: "Well, do you mean the first time or do you mean the final time?"
S: "The final time."
B: "Okay, here it goes, maybe you should sit down, this is a long
story."
They sit down on the couch.
B: "You and I were supposed to get married on September 19, 1997 but you
left me at the altar. You had your best friend come and tell me that you didn't
love me and that you were just using me. You said to tell me that it was a nice
ride. So I had a breakdown and my ex-boyfriend Jax and I got back together. You
had left town and I had no idea where you were and then one day you came back.
You and I ended things right and I was going to marry Jax. My presumed dead
mother came to town and I was driving her some where when my car went off the
road, I was presumed dead but as you see I'm not dead."
S: "I can't believe you Brenda, how can you do that? You must be hurting a
lot of people, faking your death like this."
B: "I know, but it was best for everybody."
Sonny gets up and starts throwing his things in a suitcase. Brenda is shocked.
B: "Where are you going?"
S: "And I think it is best for everybody if I just leave."
B: "No, Sonny! Please don't leave... I love you!"
S: "And you know what's sad Brenda, I was falling head over heels in love
with you and then I found out that you have been lying to me for all these
weeks now. I'm sorry Brenda but I can't do this anymore. I'm out of here."
He finishes packing his things and then he heads out the door. Brenda runs to
the door with him.
B: (Through her tears) "Please Sonny, I love you... Please don't leave
me... Sonny!"
He is gone and Brenda is left alone to cry.
Chapter
9
Sonny walked into Luke's, the day after he arrived back in
Port Charles. He was ecstatic at the thought of seeing his friends again, especially
Luke. Luke's friendship was one of his most cherished friendships, excluding
Jason and Stone. Stone didn't count because he considered him to be his
brother. And Jason, well, he was like Stone. He was also like a brother to him.
Sonny glanced behind the bar and saw Luke, behind the bar drying glasses with a
dishtowel. Sonny walked quietly over to the bar, making sure that Luke didn't
notice him. He opened his mouth to speak.
S: " Hey partner, what's up?"
Luke looked up from his task at hand, with an almost startled look on his face.
L: " Corinthos, I thought you were swimming with the fishies."
S: " No, you might say I was swimming in ice, but it definitely didn't
involve anything tropical."
L: " That's too bad, man. I know how much you enjoy beautiful women, fun
in the sun, and did I say beautiful women already?"
S: (Laughing) " Yeah, you said that once or twice."
L: " What do you say we blow this tame dump and go someplace that is
jumping."
S: (Has an amused look on his face.) " You just called your bar a tame
dump?"
L: " Well, that's the truth. I mean, it is nice and anything, and how
could it not be, I mean everything I touch is bound to be gold, right?"
S: (He ponders this statement for a moment.) " Absolutely. Look at Laura's
golden blonde hair."
L: " Speaking of golden blonde hair, and beautiful women, lets go hit the
clubs."
S: " I might as well, I don't have a girlfriend.
As soon as Luke and Sonny arrived at the topless bar, Baby Dolls, they hit the
bar. Sonny felt a strong need to have a drink. The bar tender appeared just in
time.
Bar Tender: " Is there anything that I can get for you?"
L: " Yeah, you can give me a lap dance."
S: " Luke…I think she was talking about a drink."
L: " Oh yeah, whatever…I would still like a lap dance though."
Bar Tender: (Annoyed expression on her face) " Sir, if you want a lap
dance, ask one of the dancers. I'm not about to make myself like a bitch that
can't keep my legs closed!"
S: (Looks at Luke and rolls his beautiful, intense, dark eyes) " Good
going Luke, did you have to piss the bar tender off? I didn't even get my
drink."
L: (Grins at Sonny) " Look man, I barely get any from Laura anymore. I
have to get my enjoyment somewhere, without actually having to go all the way.
I mean if Laura asks me if I'm cheating on her I can say no because it was just
dry sex and no actual intercourse."
S: " Whatever makes you happy Luke. I just want a drink." (He tracks
down the bar tender.) "Look man, my friend, he doesn't know what he's
doing or saying half the time. I apologize for him. Can I please have a
drink?"
Bar tender: " Sure, but don't expect me to give your friend
anything."
S: " I assure you Miss…"
Bar tender: " Amanda…call me Amanda."
S: " Amanda, I will assure you that my friend is very sorry for his
behavior."
A: " Oh yeah, then why is he over there hitting on the other bar
tender?"
S: ( Rolls his eyes, not believing that he is going through all this
trouble to defend him.) " I'm not going to make anymore excuses for him…he
is horny."
A: " That's the truth, if he hits on one more of my friends, I'm gonna
have to kill him."
S: " You don't have to worry about that, I will kill him myself if he asks
one more woman for a lap dance."
A: " Come with me, I will get you a drink. What do you like? It is on
me."
S: " How about a cognac?"
A: " A cognac it is."
Amanda, handed Sonny his cognac and smiled at him, he was definitely hot. Maybe
she would ask him out for a drink after she got off or something. Sonny grabbed
Luke and led him over to a table, as they strode over to the table, Sonny had
to hold on to Luke, who was already on his fifth vodka tonic. Sonny looked up
and saw somebody very familiar on the stage above him, only wearing hot pants
and nothing else. It was Cindy…Cindy Woods. He hadn't seen her since that night
he had dinner with her at the PC Grille, when Brenda had walked in and went
into a jealous rage. He smiled up at her, she glanced down and looked into his
intense eyes. She smiled at him, her heart melting with just one look into his
depth full eyes. Her attention quickly got off of Sonny and onto Luke, as Luke
leaped on staged and grabbed hold of her.
L: " Come on baby, take off the rest of your clothes!"
S: (Embarrassed.) " Luke, I really think we need to leave. You are getting
way out of control."
L: " Hey man, the party is just getting started!"
S: (Pulling Luke out of the chair.) " Listen Luke, we are leaving
now!"
L: " Oh all right, Corinthos, you sure do know how to ruin a party."
Sonny glanced up again and noticed Cindy smiling at him. She reached down and
handed him a piece of paper, mouthing the words, "Call me."
S: (Mouths back) " I will."
Chapter
10
'Who the hell can that be?' thought Cindy Woods, as she
scrambled for her phone. She had worked all night long and she had just
finished her shift. She checked the caller id, making sure that it wasn't a
solictor, looking to get money out of her. She was relieved to see the name S
Corinthos displayed. She picked it up with a smile on her face, " Hello
Sonny. I'm so happy to hear from you. I was surprised to see you last
night."
" I was definitely taken by surprise. I don't remember you being as
beautiful as you were last night", Said Sonny, with a small grin on his
face.
"Well that's because you only had eyes for that bimbo from that night at
the Grill. Throughout that evening your head wasn't there, it was like your
heart and soul walked out with her."
Sonny couldn't believe that she knew exactly what he was thinking at that point
in time, " That was then, this is now. Brenda and I are history."
A jubilent smile spread across Cindy's face, "What do you mean
history?"
"Brenda and I have broken up for good. We can no longer make our
relationship work. She lied to me and I can't be with somebody that is going to
lie to me all the time, so I just ended our relationship."
"I'm sorry, I know how much she meant to you."
'This is it Sonny, this is your chance to ask her,' thought Sonny.
"Listen, Cindy, I know this really great restaurant and I would love it if
you would go out with me tonight."
Cindy could barely contain herself from jumping up and down, "I would love
to. What time?"
"Meet me at eight."
"Looking forward to it!" Cindy said before hanging up the phone.
"Who knows, maybe Sonny is the one." Thought Cindy.
