COURSE DESCRIPTION

Building upon the concepts of W100, students will increase their efficiency, through the use of web-authoring tools. The course builds awareness of the necessity to maintain strict design and HTML coding. The use of a web editor will help students through the advanced courses in the web design program.

COMPETENCY LIST OF EXPECTED STUDENT OUTCOMES

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to demonstrate competency in using the Dreamweaver Web Editor for effective use in Web Design. Using editing tools will provide the structure of this course. Expected competencies will include: Using editor interface tools, site management techniques, style sheets, layers and the positioning of elements. The creation of libraries, templates and behaviors, as well as the use of Multimedia will also be introduced.

METHOD OF INSTRUCTION

Reading assignments and lectures will supplement assigned Labs and Independent Projects. These projects will reinforce concepts illustrated in the classroom to ensure that the student acquires knowledge and working skills in using Dreamweaver 4.0. Additional theories and concepts of effective Web Design will also be introduced.

ATTENDANCE POLICY

Attendance in this class is mandatory. These are the policies on absences during this course:

Student Issue Instructor Policy

Any unexcused* absence 4 point deduction from student’s cumulative class score for each session missed.

More than 3 absences during the course Student may not receive a grade of "A", regardless of points earned in the course.

*Unexcused absences are those absences, which have not been pre-approved by the instructor.

 

 

Additional Notes:

Students are expected to read the chapter assignments before the respective lecture
Students must complete all Project Assignments to receive a grade for the course.
Students not completing all three Project Assignments will receive an F for the course.
If a student is having trouble keeping up with the class, it is his/her responsibility to go to the Dean of Day or Evening Students and seek a restart.
No restarts will be granted after week 2, unless warranted by special circumstances.
Students may be dropped from the course after missing 3 class sessions
