One of the evidences from the famous case of the Enfield poltergeist, investigated during 1977-9 by Guy Lion Playfair and others. Despite the fact that they had been left in a closed drawer, these notes where singed by the poltergeist.
The case of Maria Jose Ferreira is of interest on several counts. First, it is reported by Guy Lyon Playfair (in his The Indefinite Boundaary); it is not necessary to agree with Playfair's theories in order to respect him as a meticulous researcher. It is. of course possible that the wool was pulled over his eyes, but it seems unlikely - although one has to add that he had no direct experience of this case. (He later did directly experience the activities of the poltergeist active in Enfield, England, between 1977 and 1979 ) A second point of interest is that the poltergeist became actively malicious whlch is by no means always the case with poltergeists Indeed, poltergeist activity is usually characterized by the fact that, though it is a terrible nuisance, no one is physically harmed. When there is violence in a poltergeist case, it is usually described as one of 'demonic possession.'
