How many of us have known acquaintances who we danced with or who suddenly just disappeared only for us to be told they have passed away. |
OTHERS OF THE HEART |
I put the ones I can remember on these pages not so much for the benefit of others, but for my own benefit. With each passing year, it pains me greatly that bits and pieces of them are being lost with each passing moment. I think that scares me more than anything else. I never want to forget. Kind visitor, if we mutually know someone that I've forgotten, please let me know so we can share the memory and honor their life. |
My thanks to all those who made panels in memory of some of my friends. You can search the 78,000 names of the Names Project for your friends by visiting their web sight at www.aidsquilt.org/ |
MICHAEL MARTINEZ |
I don't know when Micheal died. I don't even remember the year. It all blends together after awhile and I know that is horrible not to remember. I met Michael first in DC, then spent some time visiting him in NYC all before he eventually settled in Atanta. We had worked together in DC. I recall how much fun he had fan dancing. |
CHRIS SLACK |
I don't know when Chris died. I think it was in the early 90s. I met Chris in 1985 at Hotlanta on vacation. Had such a great time, I returned to DC only to get right back on a plane to go to LA to visit him. He had the most square, strong boned face and of course, he was very handsome. Enter Chris Slack's name in the search field at the Names Project and you will see two quilt panels made in his honor.. |
FOSTER |
Foster was my old administrative assistant years ago in the mid 80s. He was much smarter, more patient, far wiser and a better judge of character than I ever was. He died in the mid 90s. |

STEVE SMALLWOOD |
I don't know when Steve died (I think in 95), but I do know one could never forget Steve. He was a dear friend, noted DJ for Mr. Ps, then Lost and Found, Tracks and other places. His frame was as big as his heart. Just to say "Mary" brings back his voice. And that smile. |
