Position: Striker

David Trezeguet, France’s Golden Goal match-winner of EURO 2000™ had a somewhat mixed start to his Juventus FC career during the 2000/01 season. On the down side he got off to a slow start up front for the Turin club and struggled with injuries midway through the season. Despite that, he hit seven goals in his last five games as they chased AS Roma hard for the Italian title. In all, The Rouen-born forward hit 14 goals in his 25 league games for Juventus, just a hint of the kind of form he produced in five seasons at AS Monaco FC, where he scored 52 goals in 93 league appearances. Once compared to Paolo Rossi by the great Michel Platini, ‘Trezegol''s talent was obvious from the moment he was first spotted playing in Argentina, where he grew up. He was a member of France’s title-winning side at the 1996 UEFA European Under-18 Championship before making a name for himself at full international level. His Golden Goal winner at EURO 2000™ was compensation for missing out on the 1998 FIFA World Cup final, having played in every round up until then.
