After riding off on the unicorn again, I came to another New England - like place. It appeared to be Vermont, with lots of beautiful trees, filled with distinct character all their own. There I forded across a wide stream and found a Gothic style house just a few yards away, behind a pointy wrought iron fence. The stream went in a tunnel below the gate, leading to a koi pond, shaped like a real lake. Even with that friendly, addition, it was definitely a big and scary place with sharp angles, arches and gargoyles aplenty, but to someone it was home. Up a short flight of stairs, two griffin statues guarded the front door.
Although intimidated at first, I walked in. Let me tell you I got lost several times. After passing through the scary big rooms, I came to lose myself on several winding, twisting staircases, some of which leading to nowhere. Up away from the main entrance, the rooms were homier, more comfortable and cozy, but more often than not I ended up in scary rooms, even though they were mostly furnished with items from Design Toscano, Pier 1 Imports, and Symmetree. I wandered through a ballroom, recalling a scene from the Shining, but I shrugged it off since I'm already dead, and all the demons and evil spirits(what people on earth call `ghosts') are either on earth or in hell. I went on, passed by an indoor swimming pool, and got lost again, ending up in a dark long hallway leading to a wine cellar, lit by torch scones.
