He married (1) SARAH ELIZABETH HERREAN November 17, 1871 in Ozark Co., MO, daughter of MARTIN HERREAN and EDA TABOR. She was born 1855 in Taney Co., Missouri, and died Bet. 1891 - 1892 in Ozark Co., MO. He married (2) ELIZABETH "LIZZIE" CATHERAIN? TABOR WILSON October 30, 1892 in Ozark Co., MO (copy on file), daughter of JOHN WILSON and SERILDA EDDINGS. She was born June 19, 1866 in Ozark or Greene Co., MO, and died June 08, 1948 in Sallisaw, Sequoah Co., OK.

Nancy Jane's bible record shows him born 3-19-1841.
Bureau of Land Mgmt shows he homesteaded 80 acres in Ozark Co., MO 6-11-1895. I have a printout of that record.
His son Gideon said Gideon was 1/8th Cherokee indian.
Buried Dwight Mission Cemetery, Seq. Co., OK.
He was injured in Springfield, MO when an elevator fell with him and was disabled.
Per relatives, Gideon, Jr. said Gideon Sr was "1/8th Cherokee". BR>

Her name was shown as Sarah BAKER on a death certificate.
1870 MO census shows Sarah with her father, Martin HERREAN living just down
the road from Nancy Jane (TABOR) BIAS.
Marriage date found in MO Pioneers, Vol 19-25, Ozark Co Marriage Book A 1858-78 and in Book A, Ozark Co Marriages.

ELIZABETH CATHERINE WILSON-BIAS
A family story was told that Malachi Robertson tied her to a tree and had his way with her and that is how she became pregnant with the twins she had by him. The twins' names were Elmer & Willie ROBERTSON. Elizabeth's grandmother is said to have made a big difference in the twins and wouldn't let her take both of them with her when she left. The grandmother gave the twin she kept (Willie) the Wilson name and Elizabeth gave the other one (Elmer) the Robertson name.

She also had a daughter Edie said to belong to Joe Tabor. Her family wouldn't let her marry Joe Tabor so he is said to have married her sister, Rebecca, instead. She is said to have married Joe Tabor 4-18-1890, but not yet proven ALTHOUGH on her marriage license to Gid that I have her name IS TABOR.
Arvil Bice, her descendant, says her name was Elizibeth Kathryn and it is
corrected on a copy of Emery's death certificate.
Alexix found her on the 1920 census as Elizabeth COCHRED (Cochrum).
Della Turner, Ava, MO, described Lizzie as "living in Sallisaw, OK, 73 years old
in 1944, gray hair, blue eyes, 5'6" tall, weight 140-145.
In 1938 she lived at Tannahill, McAlester Co., OK.
Agnes said she was able to speak Dutch. (Especially when she got mad at Gideon...:-)

Death Cert says he was born 1-6-1876. On his death certificate his mother was shown as Sarah Herron.
He is said to be a horse trader, racer, and travelled a lot.
He was also a jeweler and did clock & watch repair.
THEY HAD NO CHILDREN.
He was on the 1920 Murray Co., OK, Brown Twp, #160/161 census with wife Nancy per Alexis. Shown as John L Bias (head,) m, w, 44, married, could read and write, born in MO, father born in MO, Mother born in MO. He is listed as a blacksmith and a note says "moving through OK". Nancy, f, w, married, could read and write, born in Texas as were her parents. No children listed
