Today I and my colleage went to pick up a friend from KL. We decided to bring her to see the Mount Kota Kinabalu. It's quite near actually, about the distance from KL to Ipoh, we are at the entrance of the Climb.
|
At the entrance, there is a giant mat on how to goto the top, and climbers have to register at the office first. Usually on eday is not enough, so you would have to book the room there also. Today, it was fully booked. |
Not many people are dare to reach this point using kancil, but you knoa lah... people from KL is a little more aggressive one lah... hehehe
After another 4 km or so, climbers start to walk to the mountain. Well, this is the stating point of the climb. As we are not properly geared up, we decided not to take the risk to go further. | ![]() |
Not only wihtout proper gearing is dangerous to the climber, insufficient stamina is quite deadly as well, due to the altitude and insufficient oxygen, even well trained people would take some effort to reach the top.

Unlike any other mountain in the semenanjung, the Mount KK is HUGE!... this picture was taken during our way down, and it was quite a distance away from it already, but it is still very BIG!... cant imagine how the first person that climbed to the top... |
By the way, the cert that they are issuing this year have a special millenium logo on it, so if any you climbers, better grab the chance fast!
There is a lot of these mountain villages around, we cant see them along the road, they are at the mountain side beside it.. we captured the beautiful scene from a big turning - to grasp a sense of their simplicity and peacefulness. | ![]() |
