CALVINISM VERSUS THE BIBLE ON THE ISSUE OF TOTAL DEPRAVITY

The Calvinist says that only whom God has given authority to become the sons of God, are given the ability to believe in his name.	The Bible says, (John 1:12 KJV) But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
The Calvinist says that a man who has everlasting life believes on the Son but a man whom God hates, believe not the Son.	The Bible says, (John 3:36 KJV) He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
Verily, verily, the Calvinist says unto you, he who is not condemned but is passed from death to life, and has everlasting life shall hear God’s word and believe in Jesus.	The Bible says, (John 5:24 KJV) Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
The Calvinist says that all elect are children of God without faith in Christ Jesus.	The Bible says, (Gal 3:26 KJV) For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
The Calvinist says that by grace you are saved WITHOUT faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:	The Bible says, (Eph 2:8 KJV) For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
The Calvinist says that whosoever is forgiven shall believe in Him	The Bible says, (Acts 10:43 KJV) To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.
The Calvinist says that because you cannot trust God and cannot hear God’s word, the Holy Spirit seals you first before you believe.	The Bible says, (Eph 1:13 KJV) In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise
The Calvinist says that he who has life has the Son, he who has no life has no Son.	The Bible says, (1 John 5:12 KJV) He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
The Calvinist says that the dead cannot hear	The Bible says, (John 5:25 KJV) Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live. (Ezek 37:4 KJV) Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD.
The Calvinist says that depraved sinner cannot obey the gospel	(Rom 6:17 KJV) But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
The Calvinist says that the depraved sinner must have life first before he can hear	(Isa 55:3 KJV) Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David. (Isa 34:1 KJV) Come near, ye nations, to hear; and hearken, ye people: let the earth hear, and all that is therein; the world, and all things that come forth of it.
The Calvinist says that the unregenerate cannot seek God in order to have life.	(Amos 5:4 KJV) For thus saith the LORD unto the house of Israel, Seek ye me, and ye shall live:
The Calvinist says that the spiritually dead cannot repent	(Luke 13:3 KJV) I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
The Calvinist says that the spiritually dead cannot believe (Note: The jailor was spiritually dead before he believed)	(Acts 16:30 KJV) And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? (Acts 16:31 KJV) And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

The Calvinist says that God has from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and WITHOUT BELIEF of the truth The Bible says, (2 Th 2:13 KJV) But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:

The Calvinist says that God has chosen the poor of this world even if he is WITHOUT FAITH The Bible says, (James 2:5 KJV) Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith....

The Calvinist says that a person is an elect according to the FORELOVING of God the Father The Bible says, (1 Pet 1:2 KJV) Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father....

The Calvinist says that Paul became a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ even if he was WITHOUT FAITH and did not acknowledge the truth. The Bible says, (Titus 1:1 KJV) Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness.

The Calvinist says that God gives more grace to the proud elect (James 4:6 KJV) But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

The Calvinist says that election is not based on God’s foreseen humility and faith of man (Psa 33:18 KJV) Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;

The Calvinist says that God is pleased to elect certain ones from among the proud God-hating sinners. (Psa 147:11 KJV) The LORD taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy.

The Calvinist says that God saves the proud to make him humble. They believed that the spiritually dead cannot exercise humility until regenerated. (Psa 34:18 KJV) The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.

The Calvinist says that only the elect God wants to repent and does not want to perish. They also say that God’s will is for the elect to repent but it is not God’s will for the non-elect to repent. (2 Pet 3:9 KJV) The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

The Calvinist says that God knows because he decreed first. (Prov 3:19 KJV) The LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens. (knowledge first before decree)

The Calvinists say that God’s election is not based upon what He foresaw in man’s humble response to God’s word. (Isa 66:2 KJV) For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.

The Calvinist says that election and salvation is unconditional and that God saves them not because they trust in him. (Psa 37:40 KJV) And the LORD shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him.

Calvinist says that Election is according to God’s pleasure and He did not elect some people because it is also His pleasure that they die in their sins without repentance. (Ezek 33:11 KJV) Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel? (Mal 2:17 KJV) Ye have wearied the LORD with your words. Yet ye say, Wherein have we wearied him? When ye say, Every one that doeth evil is good in the sight of the LORD, and he delighteth in them; or, Where is the God of judgment?

Calvinist says that the message of the gospel is not really intended for all men but only for the elect. The Gospel includes a message "Christ died for you", "Repent", "Believe". (Mark 16:15 KJV) And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

CALVINISM VERSUS THE BIBLE ON THE ISSUE OF ATONEMENT

CALVINISM DOCTRINE BIBLE DOCTRINE

Calvinist says that the "world" in John 3:16 refers only to the elect and so, it is read this way, "God loved the world of the elect only, that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever of the elect believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life...light is come into the world of the elect, and the elect men loved darkness rather than light". The Bible says, (John 3:16 KJV) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
(John 3:19 KJV) And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

Calvinist says that Jesus is the Savior not of the world but only of the elect The Bible says, (1 John 4:14 KJV) And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.

Calvinist says that Jesus did not die for the nation of Israel but only to some of them. The Bible says, (John 11:51 KJV) nd this spake he not of himself: but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for that nation;

Calvinist says that Jesus did not die for all men, therefore his salvation is limited to save only a few. The Bible says, (1 Tim 4:10 KJV) For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.

Calvinist says that Jesus is the propitiation for the sins of the elect only The Bible says, (1 John 2:2 KJV) And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

Calvinist says that when Christ died on the cross, almost 2000 years ago, all elect were already reconciled to God even before they were born. The Bible says, (2 Cor 5:19 KJV) To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

Calvinist says that a person is justified already even without his faith The Bible says, (Rom 5:1 KJV) Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

Calvinist says that God’s grace is only for the elect The Bible says, (Titus 2:11 KJV) For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,

Calvinist says that Jesus did not die for those who deny Him The Bible says, (2 Pet 2:1 KJV) But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

Calvinist says that Jesus did not come for those who reject Him The Bible says, (John 1:11 KJV) He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

Calvinist says that Jesus did not offer life to those who refuse Him The Bible says, (John 5:39 KJV) Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. (John 5:40 KJV) And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.

Calvinist says that Jesus gave himself a ransom for some ONLY The Bible says, (1 Tim 2:6 KJV) Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

Calvinist says that God does not desire all men to believe in Jesus The Bible says, (Isa 45:22 KJV) Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.

Calvinist says that if the gospel is preached to the non-elect, it is because the preacher does not know that he is a non-elect but that the message and command of the gospel is not really for him personally. (For how can the gospel be intended for the non-elect if Christ did not die for him) The Bible says, (2 Th 1:8 KJV) In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
(2 Th 1:9 KJV) Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

CALVINISM VERSUS THE BIBLE ON THE ISSUE OF IRRESISTIBLE GRACE

Calvinist says that Jesus did not come for those who reject Him The Bible says,(John 1:11 KJV) He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

Calvinist says that all the God called are the chosen ones (equal number) The Bible says, (Mat 22:14 KJV) For many are called, but few are chosen. (unequal in number)

Calvinist says that the general call is the call of the preacher and it is always resisted but the effectual call is the call of God and it cannot be resisted. The Bible says, (Mat 11:20 KJV) Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not: (Mat 11:21 KJV) Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.(Jesus was preaching and it was resisted)

Calvinist says that God has no desire to save those who reject Christ. The Bible says, (Mat 23:37 KJV) O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!

Calvinist says that no one man can resist the Holy Spirit The Bible says, (Acts 7:51 KJV) Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.

Calvinist says that God’s call is always effectual and it cannot be resisted The Bible says, (Isa 66:4 KJV) I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them; because when I called, none did answer; when I spake, they did not hear: but they did evil before mine eyes, and chose that in which I delighted not.

The Calvinist says that Man cannot refuse God The Bible says, (Jer 9:6 KJV) Thine habitation is in the midst of deceit; through deceit they refuse to know me, saith the LORD.

The Calvinist says that when it is the preacher’s voice no one will hear it but when it is God’s voice, no one can refuse it. The Bible says, (Jer 7:23 KJV) But this thing commanded I them, saying, Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people: and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well unto you. (Jer 7:24 KJV) But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear, but walked in the counsels and in the imagination of their evil heart, and went backward, and not forward.

The Calvinist says about Cause and Effect that when God cause you to hear and believe, you will hear and believe and that man has no freewill. The Bible says, (Jer 13:11 KJV) For as the girdle cleaveth to the loins of a man, so have I caused to cleave unto me the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah, saith the LORD; that they might be unto me for a people, and for a name, and for a praise, and for a glory: but they would not hear.

Calvinist says that man cannot reject Jesus as his Savior.
(Note: A person cannot reject something that which is not offered to him)
The Bible says, (John 12:47 KJV) And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. (John 12:48 KJV) He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.
