"The lyrics convey some great ideas, and that's pretty rare these days. The music is top-notch, the melodies heartfelt and sincere and that's even more rare!" - Sandy Picard, musician and engineer

The End

Little things don't feel the same
Your preoccupation, does he have a name?
I won't lie, I'm dying inside
Torn between what I want for us, what you feel you need
But listen,

I've been hurt before and I know
I could never make you stay
If he gives you more just go
I don't want to stand in your way

Chorus:
It's not the end
I'll learn to live somehow
With a broken heart
It's not the end
I'll learn to love again
It's not the end

Gave you all I had in me
Still, there are some things I just can't be
I understand more than you think I can
So if I cry, just turn away, these tears will dry
And listen

I've been hurt before and I know
I could never change your mind
If he gives you more just go
I don't want to waste your time

(Chorus)

Bridge:
You say you love me, and I believe you do
But not the way I need you to
Dreams turn to ashes and tears fall like rain
It's never easy
But it's not the end

Take My Heart
Duane Allen Harlick
Copyright Y2K, Just Duane Music (BMI) All Rights Reserved.

Oh no
I feel it coming on again, your jealousy
I thought
We'd gotten to the point where you had faith in me

You've been at this game since I've know you
Though I've shown you how I feel
I've done all I can to convince you
That this love is real

So please stop worrying
Asking where I've been
There's no way, no one, nothing
Nobody can do
To Take My Heart from you

Why do
You get so discouraged when we're apart too long
Don't think
That every time I walk out the door I do you wrong

You're the only one that I want to
Bring it home to every night
So don't wait up for me just remember
To leave a light on

And please stop worrying
Who might come between
There's no way, no one, nothing
Nobody can do
To Take My Heart from you

I let you down before
(I played around with your heart)
Afraid and so unsure
(I know that wasn't too smart)
But on my knees I swore
(Remember forgiving me?)
To stay with you forever

I can't go back to long nights of yelling
Never telling where we'll fall
Soft apologies in the morning
Through the bathroom door

So please stop worrying
Baby, I still wear my ring
There's no way, no one, nothing
Nobody can do
To Take My Heart from you

Just Like Me
Duane Allen Harlick
Copyright Y2K, Just Duane Music (BMI) All Rights Reserved.

If everyone was Just Like Me
We'd all live in fine modest houses in the suburbs
And not those ostentatious palaces you see on TV
'Cause we wouldn't have that kind of money

If everyone was Just Like Me
We'd all spend our evenings in the kitchen
With the smell of something wonderful bursting from the oven
And we'd serve it up warm to our children while we showered them with loving

But there would be no food, 'cause I'm no farmer
And there'd be no children, 'cause I can't bear a child
And there'd be no house, 'cause I can't build a house
And it's not that I'm stupid, I just never learned how

Chorus:
If everyone was Just Like Me
There would be no war, 'cause I'm too lazy
There'd be no more sadness 'cause I'm so crazy
And we'd all walk around in a euphoric daze
Singing, "Oh what a perfect place the world would be!"
If everyone was Just Like Me

If everyone was Just Like Me
We'd all drive great big cars with phat tires and stereos
And we'd wash them with our hands on sunny days
And go for a ride downtown
And we'd see all the people with their crazy colored hair and clothes
Just hangin' on the corner and talkin' to each other 'bout
What's wrong with what's wrong an why they're so right
And why our differences are really just a reason to fight

But there'd be no clothing, cause I'm no tailor
And everyone's hair would just be gray and thin
And there'd be no car, cause I can't build a car
And it's not that I'm stupid, but we are what we are

(Chorus)

Bridge:
You know an engineer just moved in on my street
From that place where engineers come from
And he doesn't sing or play music like me
So I'm certain he's a worthless bum
So we say…
"There goes the neighborhood,
Those engineering types they're all the same.
There goes the neighborhood,
Those numbers guys, they're no good,
But at least we've got someone to blame!"

Chorus:
If everyone was Just Like Me
There would be no war, no more guns
There'd be no more sadness, we'd have so much fun
We'd cherish the night, and worship the Son
What a strange new place, the world would be
If everyone was Just Like Me

Peace In My Home
Duane Allen Harlick
Copyright Y2K, Just Duane Music (BMI) All Rights Reserved.

Every morning when I walk out that door
There's no telling what I'm in for
The world outside can be a frightening place
You see it in the street, on each and every face

So Lord, if you hear me
I have just one thing to ask of you
When my day is through

Chorus:
Give me Peace in my Home
Keep the atmosphere loving and warm
Give me Peace in my Home
That's all that I ask for

The pain and heartache I see on the news
Children in the street, no food, no shoes
I look at my own life, so thankful for
All that you've given me, and I pray to you, Lord

Take care of my family
Keep and protect us in your loving arms
Through the wind and storm

Chorus:
Give me Peace in my Home
Through the good times and bad, keep us healthy and strong
Give me Peace in my Home
That's all that I ask for

Bridge:
Until there comes a time the world can find
A way to make all fear and hatred cease
Just give me peace

When I climb up the stairs, take away all my cares
When I come through the door, I don't wanna worry no more
When I turn out the light, make everything all right
That's all that I ask for

'Til The Milk Runs Dry (The Cow Song)
Duane Allen Harlick
Copyright Y2K, Just Duane Music (BMI) All Rights Reserved.

He pursued an education, chose an occupation
Got himself in on the basement floor
At first it was rough but he worked his way up
Until he had an office with his name on the door

Then, at 51 they said, "Sorry John"
"The world is changing it's a management call"
Well, he took his pink slip, shot from the hip
And you could hear his words ricocheting down the hall

Chorus:
I'm a cow, 'til the milk runs dry
I'm a cow, oh my, oh my
I'm a cow, 'til the milk runs dry
Then I'm a greasy ground round
With an order of fries

Well he had himself a honey she loved to spend his money
He bought her anything that her heart desired
But when his world went down the drain, he tried to explain
Things were gonna be a little tight for a while

He said, "Stick around. Don't be down."
He promised her that everything would be all right
Well she took his credit cards, jumped into her car
And he hasn't seen her since she left that night

(Chorus)

Bridge:
You don't need to tell me
Don't need no reminder
Yeah, they drink from your cup
Then they chop you up
And put you in a grinder

Things have gotten better 'cause he's a "go-getter"
Looks like he'll be starting in a week or two
And though he's back in the saddle, he's just a head of cattle
Knowing any minute it could all fall through

'Cause they can still release at will
Life doesn't come with any guarantees
So every day, along the way
He leans out the window and screams to the trees

(Chorus)

Freezin'
Duane Allen Harlick
Copyright Y2K, Just Duane Music (BMI) All Rights Reserved.

I used to be so
Warm and peaceful
My burden was so light
I was patient and forgiving
I was living a kind and gentle life

But as I've gotten older, I feel I'm getting colder
There's something in my bones that won't leave me alone
And I've gotta make some changes 'cause it's turning me to stone

Chorus:
I'm Freezin' from the inside out
It's not the way I wanna be
I'm Freezin' from the inside out
Just look what life is doin' to me

I used to care so much
Was aware, in touch
I was everybody's friend
But lately I'm explosive
I need a dose of some good soul medicine

I wouldn't call it malice, but I feel I'm getting callous
And this bone chilling affliction that fills my life with friction
Is threatening to rob me of my passion and conviction

(Chorus)

Bridge:
There's something taking over my life
Like a thickening cloud, a shroud
Gotta find a way to get myself up and out of
This mess, the distress and embrace and caress
The life that I've been given a chance to share
With those unaware that there is an answer
To the cancer plaguing our lives
Blocking our eyes from the Son
Leaving our souls without a vision
And it isn't only me 'cause everywhere I'm looking around I see
Indications leading me to believe
That I'm not the only one

I feel my body numbing and I fear what I'm becoming
And the blood that still remains, runs icy in my veins
I'm longing for the blanket of my innocence again

Chorus:
I'm Freezin' from the inside out
It's not the man I wanna be
I'm Freezin' from the inside out
Just look what life is doin' to me

about the mandolin

Pete Kehoe showed up at a recording date with a mandolin under his arm. Just a mandolin, I don't know what kind, but it didn't matter. We were in an "anything goes" mood, so he sat down and tossed a few ideas on a track. Instantly it added a huge dimension to the sound that lit up the room. Although we ended up splitting duty (in the interest of expediency), honestly, the cool stuff is Pete. Check out his solo on "Take My Heart".
