I watched the Disney in Concert Special with Aaron Carter and Samantha Mumba yesterday. Samantha kind of annoyed me for some reason, but she has a pretty good voice.
Now, let me preface the rest of this review by saying, before this special I had never heard any of his songs or seen him live. This was the first. So I didn't know what to expect. Being that I am a huge fan of Hanson and the Moffatts, his age didn't effect my judgement of his talent. But by not playing instruments or anything, he did have alot to prove to me. And I
must say, he came really close *L*.
There were two diffrent parts of Aaron's section of the show. One was the 'concert part' when he was on stage, the other was when he was running around Disney. I'll review both parts.
FIRST- The Concert.
Bottom line, this kid is a mini Nick. His style and attitude and even his singing voice is a dead ringer for Nick at 14. He also loves being on stage
and performing, which is important for any performer. That is probably the one thing I noticed most about his performance. He just commands the audience (yeah, they were like 12 year old hormonal girls, but still..).
The songs were very...appropriate for a kid his age. I think he did 5 songs (don't remember them all though) he did a cover of the 50's song, "I Want Candy" and "How I beat Shaq". *L* They were actually really good songs.
There really isn't anything I didn't like about his concert. I think that if he can safely get himself out of Nick's shadow, he could be successful. And I also think he would be more successful as more of a Jon Bon Jovi/ Rob
Thomas kind of singer, instead of a 'pop' star.
Now, I always like the portion of the show(s) that you get to see the star as people, off stage in real life. Aaron had his whole family at the Disney park for his concert and the show showed all of 'em (cept Angel). The cutest part was Nick and Aaron hanging out. They played basketball. Nick gushed about his bro and how 'annoying' he is. And then they went on a rollercoaster, and when they came back, both of them had their hair sticking straight up- it was cute as anything. Then Aaron got to go diving with the fish in the 'Living Sea's' and said he is gonna quit singing at 16 to go to college for marine biology (and if he really does that, he is going to have my respect forever, thats awesome). But my favotire part was when Aaron and his sister Leslie went and made their own music video (as a joke, just for fun) and they were arguing about what song to do, and Leslie eventually gave in and said "Fine you win, whatever you Little Prince of Pop" and kinda bowed to him (totally joking).
Anyway, thats it for my review. I know it isn't the best, but I don't know much about Aarons career or anything, so I can't add anything else really.
