9.

            a. How does his present occupation resemble his occupation as revealed at the trial- that Barsad is a spy he never says he is at the trial but everyone can tell. The reasons one can tell is that he holds information from the court and acts peculiar when he is asked if he is a spy.

            b. How does Basard try to trick the Defrages into an admission of sympathy for Gaspard and the oppressed- Barsad tries to trick the defarges into an admission of sympathy for Gaspard by saying stuff at the wine shop that make them feel sorry for the people that are suffering in the bastille.

            c. What one penetration does Basar make in the armor of caution of the Defarges-that the spy can tell that Defarge is unconformable and uneasy with what is going on.

#14

By Mrs. Defarge openly talking about her secret act which is knitting the names of the aristocrats they will later kill. Specifically saying “I shall knit ‘Basard’ before you go” to his face shows that she is playfully threatening him without him knowing.

#21

The road mender just sees what there physically is not what they would emotionally feel. For example rather than seeing six condescending and arrogant soldiers carrying a helpless prisoner he just sees “six soldiers with a tall bound man.” Also by him saying “to my sight” this shows that he only thinks what he sees and not what he imagines about them. Also he just looks at the effects of the soldier like the dust and shadows they create rather than looking at the soldiers.
