You see- they are forget-me-not blue. Forget-me-not... Memory charms... One of JK's clever details or just my lack of life?

Which house was Lockhart in? Certainly not Gryffindor- he is the opposite of "brave at heart".
He can't be a Ravenclaw either- Ravenclaws are known to be intelligent, Lockhars isn't.
Hufflepuff? Well, he is dumb and rather hard working, but Mon Dieu, no! Hufflepuffs are loyal and don't have that ambition thing going on.
So he is a Slytherin, then? Well, he's certainly the kind of person who would "use any means to achieve his ends", but "cunning"? Nope.

In an online chat, when asked if she based her characters on real-life people she said that Lockhart is indeed based on a person she met, but she refuses to tell who.
Let us think. Gilderoy Lockhart is a highly successful writer... very good looking too...
Which, naturally, can only mean one thing- Lockhart is JK's Mary-Sue, cleverly disguised into a man!
