First win at Treherbert in Years TREHERBERT
RFC 15 This was our first league win of the season and first victory at Treherbert in a few seasons. We opened the scoring with a penalty from Ryan Jones but then jones turned from hero to villain when he fumbled directly from the kick off, Treherbert took advantage quickly to go over for an unconverted try. Jones had a chance to redeem himself with a penalty a couple of yards inside the opponents half but, unluckily, struck the crossbar. This was a hard-fought battle, with neither side gatting on top, and the half ended 5-3. In the second half, they came out with all guns blazing and put us under pressure, resulting in a converted try. They then went further ahead with a penalty but, with minutes left, skipper Adrian Williams broke from the centre and ghosted through the opposition. Chris Matenko, in his debut game, was on his shoulder to take t on but was tackled inches short. Williams following up, took the pass to go over. A minute later, Williams got in on the act again with another try and then, not to be outdone, fellow centre Nathan Walters beat a couple of defenders to go in for a good solo try.
