The elf sat down on the ground with all the small children gathering around. The sun was shining and the birds singing in the sky. The day was the day that Aulindorin was to tell his story. All the children of the village had been looking forward to this day a hole week and now it was time for "the old elf" to tell the story of his life.
"Come on now, sit down. Yes Erithias you can sit over here and Jiriraias come sit in my lap.
Now, can I begin? Great. So what did I promise to tell about you to day?"
Jiriraias was the one to enlighten the storyteller. "You said you would tell of your past, Lord Aulindorin."
And with a smile Aulindorin continued.
"Aha, of my past you say. Well it's going to be a long story if I were to tell the whole of it so I think I will shorten it for you.
In a time long before the Turning there was The Twilight. In the mist of the Twilight I was born. I was set to the world to be of the House Cambreth'Ili and to serve them for all time to come."
Jiriraias pulling in Aulindorins tunic: "But...but your name is not Cambreth'Ili you are Lethoniel..."
"Aha, you rush the story. Let me continue and I will tell of why I have changed my name. Now, where was I? Hmm.. yes my family.
I
grew up in the House of Cambreth'Ili one of the large Elven Houses of the old.
I was taut to wield the sword to defend my home from the beasts and monsters
that roam the lands.
By the Age of The Kings I was appointed Ambassador and I was often to visit all the other Houses of the Elves. And you can imagine all the feasts and lovely balls I had to endure. Yes I loved the assignment that given to me... But I guess all things cannot last forever. The Turning was soon a fact and everything went crazy... By that time I had fallen in love with the Thaelostors daughter Gilthorie and by the orders of my Lord I was to flee with her and make a new beginning elsewhere. The Turning swept thru the land and destroyed what I knew as my home. I had to leave all my friends at the hands of the Turning my friends at our house and my friends at House of Ias Kiran a'Llyra where I was stationed.
Now my new life began. Here where we all sit now is where I and Gilthorie moved. The two of us decided to lay behind what was never to come again and we took the name of my father, Lethoniel. That name I carry to this day and I will be named by it until The Twilight is to come again. As farmers we settled down. With the few servants we had we did not have the luxury of sitting just as rulers we had to work in the fields as any. That gladdens me today as I can look at our servants with different eyes. Remember that do not judge without have felt the whips of time. Do not think you better if you not know your flaws.
Well, as time past by I had two sons. One by the name I wish not speak of to day cause Man took him from this world to never return.... My second son as you all know is Taurion, who should come home any minute for supper by the way...
I also adopted a boy by the name Camthalion. He and my boy became as brothers but as my firstborn was slain he decided to wonder the world for the search of long lost arcane knowledge.
Now children, I'm getting tired and I guess you know the rest of the story. It is time for me to go and sit with my family and enjoy the fruits of Barialla. Tell me, what shall be next weeks story?"
A
girl in the back speaks up: "Tell us about The Monster in the Cave! You
promised that you would tell us that story one day."
"Oh? Well I guess I will have to tell you all about my adventures in the big Cave next time then."
With a smile Aulindorin went home to his wife and son that day. But the news that was told by his son Taurion made the Lord of the house think of days long gone and his dreams of the future not to distant. Taurion had heard of a House called Gilliandor and the rumour was that Lord Xzean Gilliandor was to reunite the Elves and call for a new Twilight.
With his fathers blessing the young Taurion departed for a journey without end. Aulindorin wished for it to be the truth but could not leave all this just for a rumour.
Now after Taurion has told of the House of promise and of dreams come true Aulindorin decides to join House Gilliandor and reclaim his former name Cambreth'Ili. He knew it was time for the one thing he had promised Gilthories father before leaving him to his destiny to bring back a Twilight Empire.
