Alexis Bledel, a foreigner to the television scene, has shown us her innate acting talent as Rory in Gilmore Girls. Although she has no previous experience in acting, Alexis modeled during high school. Through her modeling agency she acquired an agent, who found the audition for Rory of Gilmore Girls. Alexis says that she just auditioned on a whim, not expecting to get the part at all. When she did, she celebrated with a piece of pizza with a friend in L.A.

Alexis, 18 years old, was born and raised in Houston, Texas. A shy child, her parents started her in community theater when she was eight years old. She acted in local productions of Aladdin, Our Town, and The Wizard of Oz. After an education at a private high school in Houston, Bledel attended NYU and studied film for one year.
