Love and New Beginnings

by: Cheryl

Disclamer: I do not own any of these characters except for the ones I have made up. You will know which one's are mine because they are the one's that are not on the show. This was written after The Breakup Part II which was in the first season of Gilmore Girls.

Info: Here is some background info on my story. I am going to pretend somethis happened so imagine... Imagine that Lane is now dating Henry, that guy she met at the party. Imagine that Tristin and Rory become friends and help each other get through their break-ups. Imagine that Rachel has just left town and Luke is sad. Imagine that Loralai and Max just decided not to see each other anymore for good this time.

"So do you think you will go to Madeline's party tomorrow night?" Lane asked, "Henry asked me if I would go with him"
"I guess so, if you want me to go," Rory replied.
"Well I have to be home, I'll see you tomorrow night?"
"Yeah, I hope I can find someone to talk too, I mean Madeline and Louise will be off making out with their boyfriends, Tristin will probably be going from girl-to-girl, and well there is only so much of Paris I can take"
Lane laughed, "Don't worry if it's that bad you can just be 'sick'"
"I know," Rory said, "Well I'll see you then"
"Yeah, bye"
"Bye"
Rory waved as she headed back to her house. She walked slowly. It was so beautiful outside and she didn't want to ruin it. She loved the fall in Stars Hollow, it was always so nice.
Rory had had a fun summer. She had actually spent time with people from Chilton too. Since her and Dean's breakup she had also gotten to be surprisingly close friends with Tristin. They had started up school again about a week ago and Madeline was determined to have the first party of the year.
Rory just thought as she walked along. She waved to Luke as she passed by his diner but she didn't go in. Rachel had just recently left and Luke claimed to be fine but Rory knew that he was upset. She looked up at the trees as she turned the corner.
"Ah!" she screamed as she bumped into someone and fell to the ground. She looked up to see a tall figure glancing down at her. It was Dean. She had not seen Dean all summer and felt very self conscience at the moment. She stood up and quickly fixed her hair.
"Hi Dean," she said.
"I'm sorry," he said, "that was all my fault"
"No, it was mine really, I wasn't watching where I was going"
"So, Rory long time no see, how have you been?"
"Alright, what about you?"
"Not so great, I really miss you"
"Well it's not like I broke up with you!" Rory snapped, "Oh! Sorry, that was mean, I'm really sorry"
"No, it's alright, I deserved that"
"No you didn't"
"Yes I did, you were completely right ya know. I realized that a little to late, didn't I?"
"It's okay"
"Why was I so stupid? I really shouldn't have been so mad, I mean I shouldn't have exspected you to be in love with me after only three months"
"Yeah, I know"
"I'm really sorry"
"Okay"
"Do you think maybe...maybe we could try again? I really like you Rory, but if you don't want to see me anymore I completely understand"
Rory paused for a moment, "Tomorrow night I was going to go to a party, would you like to come with me?"
"Yes, I would really like that"
Rory smiled, "Okay, you can pick Lane and I up at my house at 8:30"
"Okay, who's party is it anyway?"
"Madeline's"
"Is this a Chilton party?"
"Yes it is. I've sort of made friends with them now"
"Well I'm happy for you---that jackass isn't going to be there, is he?"
"Oh--Tristin? Well actually we're friends now"
"Really?"
"Yeah, he broke up with his girlfriend at the same time that we broke up. We kind of dealed with it together"
"Oh"
"Well I better get home, I still have homework---I'll see you tomorrow"
"Yeah, bye"
"Bye"
Rory ran home excitedly. "Dean wants to get back together!" Rory yelled to her mother Loralai as she ran into the house.
Loralai hugged her daughter, "That's great sweety," she said trying to smile but tears ran down her face.
"What's wrong?"
"Max and I decided not to see each other anymore--I need to wallow!"

~~~~~~~The Next Day at Chilton~~~~~~~~~
It was the first day for Kayla and Zachery Dunn who were new to Chilton. The twins walked up to their cousin Paris. She was the only person they knew at Chilton.
"Hey Paris," Kayla said as she pushed some of her golden blonde hair behind her ear. Kayla was very pretty, she looked like that of a model. She was tall, about 5'8, she was very thin, had shoulder leagnth hair, and deep royal blue eyes. Her twin brother, Zack, was also attractive though he did not look much like Kayla. Zack was also very tall, about 6'2, he had longish blonde hair, and grayish-blue eyes.
"Hi," Paris mumbled.
"Hey Paris," Rory said as she went up to her locker, "Hi, I'm Rory," she said to Kayla and Zack.
"I'm Zack and this is my sister Kayla," Zack said, "We're new here"
Rory nodded as Tristin came up from behind her, "Great news," he said, "I think Summer likes me again!"
"Good for you, I have good news too," Rory said, "I saw Dean yesterday, for the first time since like April. He wants to get back together! He is coming to the party with me tonight"
"Great!" Tristin said.
"What party?" Kayla asked.
Tristin looked at Kayla and her innocent look, "So are you new here Mary?" he asked with a smile.
"Mary?"
"There is a perty tonight at Madeline's house," Paris explained, "And Tristin, you're all wrong about Kayla here, she's no virgin"
"Then should I call you Magdalene then?" he aske dwith a laugh.
Kayla ignored him, she looked at Paris, "What the hell are you doing?!" she asked angerly.
"What ya want me to lie for you?"
"Just shut up," Zack said, "Paris don't bother my sister just because you don't get any"
Kayla broke up laughingas Paris slammed her locker shut and stormed off.
"How do you guys know Paris?" Rory asked.
"She's our cousin, our very bitter and jealous cousin," Kayla explained.
"Did you like just move here?" Tristin asked.
"Yeah, we used to like down in Philadelphia, well a suburb of it at least"
"I better talk to Paris," Kayla said, "So, later"
"Wait, I'm gonna come too," Rory said, "She usually listens to me"
"Paris!" Rory called as the girls caught up to her.
"What?!" Paris asked.
"What's wrong?" Kayla asked.
"Zack just embarressed me in front of Tristin!"
"So what, you embaressed me in front of him," Kayla said.
"Paris likes him," Rory explained.
"Why?" Kayla asked, "He's not your type at all, I mean Paris I've known you way to long and the reason you don't get guys is well, first of all your attitude, and second of all you always like the wrong ones..."
"Well what can I do?! I can't help it"
"Paris, let me give you a make-over for the party tonight. It will be fun, then I'll help you find someone there"
"Okay..."
~~~~~~~~~At Rory's House~~~~~~~~

"I can't believe it! He'll be here in any minute!" Rory exclaimed.
"I'm so happy for you!" Lane said, "Tonight is going to be so great!"
Just then the doorbell rang and it was Dean. Rory gave Dean a hug and then they got into his car and drove to Madeline's house.
After they left Loralai decided to go over and see what Sookie was up to. On her way she saw Luke's Diner all empty. It seemed normal enough until she looked again and saw that Luke was sitting alone in the darkness. Loralai went inside, "Luke?" she asked, "Are you okay? I was going to Sookie's and I saw you here..."
"It's alright, I was just thinking about Rachel," he replied.
"Yeah, I'm sorry about that...Max and I decided not to see each other anymore either"
"Oh Loralai, I'm sorry," Luke said.
"Yeah," Loralai replied, "I'm getting over it surprisinly fast though"
"Yeah, same with me and Rachel"
Loralai looked over at Luke, "Why do you think our relationships never work out?" she asked.
Luke shrugged, "Maybe they just weren't meant to be, maybe we are just suppose to be alone forever..."
"Alone?" Loralai asked, "I hope not...well at least we can be alone together, ya know we never did get together and hate all those 'hey, how are you' people," Loralai said with a laugh, "Remember that?"
"Yeah," Luke replied, "It was right before Rachel came back"
"Oh, sorry"
"It's alright," Luke said.
"You'll find someone," Loralai said, "You just need a normal girl that is always around, and likes your food, because you like to cook"
Luke laughed, "Like you?" he asked.
"Me?" Loralai said as she looked at Luke. He looked different to her. She wanted him ever so badly at the moment.
Luke was feeling the same way, he wanted to be with Loralai.
"Well I better get going," Loralai said, "I'll see you tomorrow for some cofee"
"Bye," Luke said as she left"

~~~~~~~~~~At Madeline's House~~~~~~~~~~~~
Rory, Dean, and Lane all entered the party together. Lane quickly met her guy and left Rory and Dean alone. They were about to dance when Tristin came up with them, "Rory, I need to talk to you"
"No," Dean said.
"Dean, it's okay," Rory said, "I'll be right back"
"Summer is ditching me again. We came here together, and even made out in the car, but I think she was making out with Tom," he said.
"Tristin, I don't know what to say," Rory said, "I hope you're wrong about her and I hope everything works out but if it doesn't and you are right, find someone new. I know you have no problem doing that"
Tristin laughed a little, "Thanks," he said, "I'll let you get back to Dean now"
Rory nodded and went bacl over to Dean, "Was that so bad?" she teased as Madeline, Louise, Paris, Zack, and Kayla came over to them, "I'm glad you came," Madeline said.
"Yeah...you remember Dean?"
"How could we forget," Paris mumbled.
Just then Madeline and Louise's boyfriends came over and took them away to go makeout.
"I'll be right back," Dean said to Rory, "I'm gonna use the bathroom"
"It's right down there," Paris said pointing.
"Thanks," Dean said as he walked off.
"Paris," Rory said, "You look nice"
"Thanks," she said.
Just then a girl came up to Zack and pulled him away onto the dancefloor, "Great!" Paris said as he left, "How long is he here before he get's a dance? And me? Nobody ever likes me"
"Loosen up," Kayla said, "C'mon lets all dance"
"But we don't have guys..."
"So what," Kayla said, "SOmetimes it can be more fun without them"
As the three girls got their groove on on the dance floor, Dean came back so their group went down to two. It wasn't for lone though because, Josh a guy in their class approached the girls. Kayla could tell he was going to ask her to dance so she silently nudged him into asking Paris.
"Would you like to dance...Paris?" he asked.
Paris smiled, "Sure!"
"Paris, if you need me, I'll be around," Kayla said as she exited the dance floor. She walked around and found herself sitting alone in a chair.
She looked up when she heard noise. It was the Tristin she had met earlier that day. "Summer! What are you doing! You came with me now you are with Tom!" he yelled.
"Listen, I thought I was into you but I'm not! Deal with it!!!" she yelled as she walked off with the other guy.
Kayla saw Tristin as he looked around. He looked so ashamed and embaressed as he walked into another room. Kayla followed him, she could compeletly relate to how he was feeling.
"Tristin?" she asked as she walked into the big empty room.
"Oh...hi Kayla? Did you just love my little show as much as everyone else did?"
"What?"
"Summer dumping me. She's done it more than once and I know everyone just loves to watch. To see someone hurt Tristin Dugrey"
"If it helps, I know exactly how you feel, I've been dumped more times then I can count"
"I'm sorry," he said, "but I don't want to talk about it right now"
"Fair enough, I'll leave you alone then"
"No! I'd rather have someone to talk to"
"Okay"
"So, you and Paris talking again?"
"Yeah, I gave her a make-over tonight and now she is dancing with some guy"
"She looks good tonight"
"You like her?"
"No"
"I didn't think so. She likes you but I told her the I didn't think you were her type"
"You think you know me now?"
"Yeah, just the same as you thought you knew me the first time we met"
Tristin smiled, "Okay, got me there...what did Paris mean before? I mean she wasn't serious when she said you were no virgin, was she?"
"She was serious"
"Really?! You just don't----"
"Don't look like that kind of girl, I know, I get that a lot"
Tristin laughed, "What are you some kind of slut?"
"Not really, but if you ask anyone where I used to go to school they'd say I was. I mean I can see why they woul dthink that though..."
"Why?"
"I really shouldn't talk about it"
"Please, I promise I won't tell"
"Okay, but it's only because you're sad and you can never tell another person this in you entire life"
"Okay, I promise"
"Well, I mean it's not like I selp around a lot or anything, I only had sex like 3, no 4, okay like 5 times," Kayla said, "But the last time turned out bad, real bad. I got pregnant, last year. I had the baby, she's so beautiful, I still see her sometimes. I put her up for adoption, and her parents moved up here so we did too. It was no big deal because my dad could transfer his work here easily, but I dunno..."
"Wow," Tristin said, "I'm sorry, until now I thought I was the only one with big problems"
Kayla smiled up at him, "It's okay, but you can't tell anyone"
"Don't worry, I would never do that to you"
"Thank You"
Tristin nodded as he looked down at Kayla. As they stood there silently the two just connected. Tristin leaned down and kissed Kayla.
As the two made out, Paris was walking around looking for Kayla. She walked into the room to see Kayla and Tristin kissing.
"Kayla! How could you!" She yelled as she stormed out of the room.
Kayla pulled away from Tristin and went after Paris, "Paris!" she said, "I am so so sorry, you don't understand. It's not even what it looked like. Summer dumped Tristin and he was sad so we were just talking"
"Just talking?!"
"Well we got caught up in the moment...."
"I can't believe you, you knew I liked him! I'm leaving now!" Paris said as she began to leave, but Josh came up to her, "Oh, Paris are you leaving?"
"Yes"
"Well, I had a really good time, maybe we could go out some time?"
Kayla watched as Paris went weak at the knees, "Okay," she said.
"One more dance before you go?"
"Okay"
Kayla smiled as she watched Paris go back out onto the dance floor. Tristin came up from behind her, "I'm sorry," he said.
"It was just as much my fault as it was yours"
Before Tristin could reply, Summer came up and practically jumped on him, "Hey Tristin, I'm sorry, want to go makeout in the pool house?"
"No, Summer get away from me! I don't want to be with you!" he yelled loud enough for everyone to hear.
Summer just walked off completely mortified as Tristin had been earlier.
Kayla laughed, "Good job"
"Thanks," Tristin smiled, "Hey, wanna go to the pool house?"
Kayla gave him a look, "Okay," she said, "Only because I know you wouldn't try anything"
"What makes you so sure?" Tristin asked sarcastically.
Kayla leaned up and gave him a kiss, "I just know," she said as she pulled away.
~~~~~~~~~~~The Next Morning at Rory's House~~~~~~~~~

"I really did have a great time, I really think things are going to work out with Dean this time," Rory told her mother on their way to Lukes on the bright Saturday morning.
"I'm glad," Loralai said as they walked into Luke's, "You sit, I'll order," she said as she walked up to Luke, "Great news," she said to him, "Rory and Dean are back together"
"I'm glad for them," he said nervously.
"Are you okay?"
Luke took a deep breath,"Loralai, I was thinking last night after you left, and I was wondering if you would like to go out with me sometime?"
"On like a date-date?" she asked.
"Yeah I know, I'm stupid, don't worry about it, forget I asked," he said, as he poured her some cofee.
"No Luke, I'd like to go out sometime"
Luke smiled, "Next Saturday then?"
"Today is Saturday, wouldn't it just make sense to do it tonight"
"If that's what you want"
"That's what I want," Loralai said, "I'm going to go sit down now, see ya later"
Loralai smiled as she sat down across from her daughter, "I have a date tonight"
"So do I, I am going out with Dean again--who are you going with?"
"Luke..."
"You mean like this Luke?!"
"Yes"
"Are you sure he meant a real date?"
"Yes, why is there a problem?"
"No, it's just that---do you like him?"
Loralai smiled, "I think I do"
