As I said the word, "Deal," to the intruder, I handed over my life as well as
the dream of spending the rest of my life with Rory. I have done what I
think I was put in this world to do; make a difference. By trying to save
others in the war, I only hope that I can inspire others to do the same. I
know by saying the words that will make me die, I will never see Rory again,
but I could never live with myself if she died. For these reasons, I tell
the masked man, "Deal."

"Well, you have ten seconds to live, so have your memories of YOUR GIRLFRIEND
RORY!"

Rory, I love you. Mom, Dad, I love you. Anyone that I've ever been a jerk
to, I'm sorry. Please forgive me! I was young and naive! Wait, why does
this guy keep saying "your girlfriend Rory" really sarcastically?

That's when I saw those baby blue-green eyes glaring out of the mask, staring
straight at me. DEAN!

I already told the intruder, whom I now know is Dean, that he can kill me.
What kind of person would kill someone because they're going out with their
ex? DEAN!

As I look back and forth between Dean and Rory, I don't know what Dean is
capable of now, only that he has a gun and is aiming it directly at me.

"Five, four, three, two..."

Dean is starting to move the gun towards Rory, but I jumped in front of her,
"ONE!"

Rory suddenly is breathing steadily when Tristan falls on top of her from the
gun shot wound that now has Tristan gasping for air.

As I lay down on the floor, staring at the warm, red blood gushing out of my
body, I start to have my last words with Rory.

"Rory, I know I was a complete jerk to you when you first met me, but I hope
your view of me has changed because right now is the way I want you to
remember me."

"Tristan, stop saying that. You're not going to die," Rory said as a tear
slid down her face into Tristan's blood, which was making the white floor
turn red.

"Rory, maybe you and I weren't meant together. Maybe, Dean and you were
meant for each other," Tristan said looking in Dean's direction.

"What? I will only ever love you Tristan DuGray."

Tristan gasping for air, told Rory these three words: "I love you."

Rory replied, "I love you, Tristan DuGray."

Tristan's parents couldn't even look at their son dyeing because it was so
heartbreaking and terrifying. Never could a parent witness such a
devastating thing happen to a child. Normally in life, the parents die
first. This is not the way it was supposed to happen thought Tristan's
parents.

Tristan's eye color, blue, his blood and the white tile, now represent the
true, American hero. Never was there a braver soul or a person more willing
to fight for the people around them or for what they believe in.

The paramedics quickly put Tristan into a stretcher and rushed him off into
the ambulance. With his lungs fighting to breathe in air, the paramedics try
to save his life.

The only question is, can they save his life?

What will become of Dean?
