Pairing: Tristan and Rory
Summary:Tragedy strikes the US, forcing people to say how they feel about each other at the present time
Have you ever heard the saying "If you were about to die and had only one phone call to make, who would you call, what would you say? What are you waiting for?"
My grandmother tells me all the time that I should say what I want to say to someone at the present rather then later on because there might not be a later time. Her words of wisdom never came shining through as brightly as they have right now.
While I was driving to Chilton, all I heard was, "President Bush is trying to talk to the Middle East, Pakistan and India, about peace talks." Why can't everyone just be at peace?
Chilton
"Hey, Rory!"
"Oh, hi Tristan," she said lifelessly.
"Don't try to sound too enthusiastic or anything. Can't wait to stare at you in Mr. Medina's class. See ya soon, my infamous Mary."
"Can't wait to stare at you through the back of my head! Better watch out!" Rory laughed.
At that moment, I would have to say I smirked like the Grinch.
Mr. Medina's Class
Mr. Medina said, "Can someone please update me on the Middle East crisis? Tristan, go ahead."
"Um, India and Pakistan, with the help of the United States, are going to try to have peace talks today. There's been a lot of tension between the two countries and the US wants both of them to find common ground."
"Thank you, Tristan. Right now, we're going to watch President Bush. This meeting is in India, but Pakistan leaders are there. I want you all to pay attention because we might have a quiz on this later on."
Wow, Rory looks so great! She watches the television intently and writes quickly to take notes. God, I love her.
Mr. Medina explains, "Okay the President is coming into the room to start the talks. India is going to talk first, then Pakistan. Wait, a miiiiiiinnn…
Just then, the President was being held hostage. The television went blank. The loudspeaker came on abruptly, "Please all students get under your desks immediately. India and Pakistan have taken hostage President Bush. United States is proclaiming war over Pakistan and India. Canada and England have agreed to help us. For the students here at children, today, May 2, 2001, will be the start of World War III. We are all proud Americans and will stand up for our country. Thank you and we wish every student here good fortune. Let your future live on."
I ran straight to Rory. "It's okay. Everything's going to be fine, just wait and see."
"I don't want to die. I love America. No, no, this is just a dream."
"You really dream about me?"
"This so not the time to joke."
"My grandmother says there's no time like the present."
I thought about my last line. No time like the present.
"Rory, I need to tell you something…"
