Jess's life becomes increasingly more complicated when he encounters a figure from his past. Already facing a sentence of hard labor at Luke's to pay for the damages brought about by his beer-bash brawl with Dean, Jess struggles to find a way to explain his actions to Rory (a hard thing to do when the two aren't speaking). The troubled teen's life is thrown even further off-kilter when he receives an unexpected visit from his long-absent father, Jimmy, who hopes to reconnect with Jess---despite Luke's vehement objections. Elsewhere, Rory gets some shocking news from Dean; and Lane's beau, Dave, pleads his case to a stoic Mrs. Kim.
