Rory prepares to say farewell to Chilton and proves she's ready to make adult decisions in the third-season finale. The Gilmore house is bustling with activity as Lorelai and Rory gear up for the commencement ceremonies and their European backpacking trip. The festive mood changes, however, when Rory learns that Yale has denied her financial-aid application and her selfless mom is footing the tuition bill instead of pursuing her dream of bidding on the Dragonfly Inn. So Rory circumvents Lorelai and strikes her own bargain to assume responsibility for her college education. In other developments, Luke and Nicole's summer vacation plans yield unexpected reactions.
