CSS Focsani is a welcoming host for international teams

Even though there have been rumors circulating through the local press, according to which women's gymnastics in Focsani is a failing program, the real situation is completely different. To be more exact, it's the polar opposite! The local efforts of the people involved in trying to keep up the tradition of CSS Focsani, the club who produced Gina Gogean, are huge. The gym is Olympic-size and the adjacent dorms need small renovations to be in perfect condition. As further proof that things are going well in Focsani, several international teams would like to train at the club. This summer, the Philippine national team stayed at Focsani for 2 months, and they were extremely pleased with the training conditions. The Tunisian and Venezuelan teams also trained here, and Iceland's national team is expected to stop by during the Holiday season.

While it is true there's always room for improvement, the club asked the local education superintendent to lend a helping hand. And that's because they are trying to get more funds to buy a couple more television sets, refrigerators and boilers (the gym and dorms have central heating systems). But there's a big difference between this and rumors about closing down the center, and club officials confirmed that "everyone's still working hard, and we're proud of the training center! We'd like to extend the center, definitely not close it down!"
