"I want to take all the blame"

The Romanian team doctor claims the gymnast (Andreea Răducan) is completely innocent, and he is the only one to blame.

ProSport: Dr. Oană, could you tell us what happened? How did you give Andreea the Nurofen pill(s)?
Ioachim Oană: A little before the start of the alla-round competition, Andreea came up to me and told me she had a head ache. Her eyes were watery , she had a stuffed nose and I thought about what I should give her. The only medication I had with me was Coldrex & Nurofen. I knew Coldre contains banned substances, but I simply forgot Nurofen contains pseudo-ephedrine. I only gave her one pill. There was none I could talk to about this, or ask for his advice, I had to make a decision right away.
PS: Do you feel guilty?
IO: Of course. I'm the only one who's guilty! I want to take all the balme, and let Andreea go free, because she did nothing wrong.
PS: What do you regert most about what you did?
IO: That one momenet of not paying attention had such conseqences. I've been working in gymnastics fro 23 years, and nothing like this ever happened to me.
PS: How do you feel?
IO: How could I feel? I didn't sleep all night, or eat anything since this happened.
PS: What do you hope will happene from now on?
IO: I hope the IOC court will support Andreea's case. The truth is is you can't take away a gold medal for a Nurofen pill.
