Andreea Rãducan Interview

Romanian Newspaper ProSport interviewed Andreea Rãducan before she left for the Li Ning Cup, a competition set to take place in Beijing, China. Unfortunately, another Romanian newspaper, Gazeta Sporturilor, confirmed that Rãducan will be the only Romanian competitor in the women’s event. Sabina Cojocar was scheduled to compete, but she will no longer make the trip to China. The men’s delegation is composed of Marius Urzicã, Marian Drãgulescu and coach Aurelian Georgescu.

PS: How’ve you been, Andreea?
AR: I’m getting ready to leave for China long with Mr. Octavian Belu, where I will take part in a gala-style gymnastics competition starting on Thursday. This competition is well timed for me. It’s a great opportunity to test my current value. After this competition, I’ll know what I need to work on in order to have a good showing at the Individual Apparatus Worlds, which will take place this fall in Hungary.
PS: Have you recovered from the difficult period you went through?
AR: Yes. There are no more problems. I feel well, although sometimes after some hard training sessions, one thing or another might start hurting. But I don’t keep track of that, because those aches and pains are normal for a gymnast. I’m interested in being well prepared, because I want to get back to [the level] where I was a while back.
PS: You don’t have any more problems with your weight?
AR: No. I lost the extra kilograms. Now all I have to do is be careful not to gain the weight back.

PS: What can you tell us about your teammates?
AR: Sabina Cojocar and Silvia Stroescu are back to normal training and they feel well. They were also able to overcome their crisis period.
PS: What’s the team atmosphere like?
AR: Positive. We’re all happy we’re healthy.
PS: How much longer do you think it will take until you can get back to your best form, which made you the best gymnast in the world?
AR: I couldn’t tell you an exact date right now. In any case I have a lot of work to do on some routines, which aren’t going the way they should. You should know that sometimes I feel like I’m getting old because I can’t move the way I was able to a few years back.
