Rhythmic gymnasts from Baia Mare dominate NationalsOriginal article was published on May 21st 2003 on Canal 7’s website Baia Mare recently hosted the rhythmic gymnastics Scholastic National Championships. The gymnasts form LPS CSS Baia Mare had a great showing in front of the home crowd, winning 27 individual medals and 2 team medals. The 4th category team coached by Mihaela Borz placed third, while Alexandra Ilc won the all around bronze medal. The team from Baia Mare won the 3rd category, and coach Ileana Pantea said her gymnasts gave her a great present for her birthday [May 21st]. Individually, Roxana Virlici won gold medals in the all around, as well as the ball and clubs apparatus finals. She capped off her outing with a silver in the hoop final. Diana Calauz won the hoop final, placing second with the ball and third in the all around competition, the rope and clubs finals. Madalina Muresan won gold in the rope final to complete Baia Mare’s gold medal sweep. In the 2nd category, Mihaela Nistor won the ribbon final and claimed the silver medal in the all-around competition as well as the clubs final. Corina Coroian was second in the rope final and third with the clubs and ribbon. In the first category, Noemi Kollar won four silver medals and a bronze in the ribbon final. Ioana Man was impressive in the Masters event, winning all 5 possible gold medals en route to a remarkable medal sweep.
