Error #8

Behavioral error:

Turning to the right to turn on the bathroom light at work.

When/where:

12/2/03, Enrico's Italian Dining in Frankfort

Why this is an error:

The lightswitch is on the left, not the right.

Processes:

Perception
The bathroom was dark, so I could not see the light switch. I couldn't see int he dark because dark adaptationhad not occurred to the point where my rods could function sufficiently.

Conditioning
At home, I have been operantly conditioned tot urn to the right tot turn onthe bathroom light. This behavior has been positively reinforced with the light turning on. I failed to adjust to new surroundings and generalized the stimuli, displaying the same behavior and expecting the same result.
